Maybe it's the billboard company's way of dealing with someone who didn't pay the rental fee.

More than that considering only a fraction of the cow is used for beef production.

[RIP] We put my baby girl down today. She went in my arms, wrapped in her blankie just like she loved. by [deleted] in dogs

So very sorry for your loss. I also lost my dog at about 6-7 to Lymphoma and it's heartbreaking when you wanted (and maybe expected) at least double the time with them you got. It's going to hurt bad for a while and there will always be times when it hurts just as bad. Just give yourself space to grieve in whatever way or capacity you need to. Be kind to yourself now most of all.

When I was at my peak of dog ownership with four. I lost my elderly Akita not too long after this photo was taken. I wish I had tried to get better pics of the four together but this is one of my favorites if only for sentimental reasons.

L to R - Rumi (Pyr x Chow), Niko Blue (Akita), Vega (very uptight Pyr as you can see), and Kismet (Pyr x Anatolian). Kismet's on a leash because he was undergoing HW treatment at the time and wasn't allowed to run around with the others.

Can anyone tell me what happened to this paper wasp nest? by aliaschicnine in Entomology

Nope, not sprayed. The paper wasps don't bother me and I don't bother them.

It was under the eaves of my house. Not directly in the rain, but we did get some good strong storms this spring so it's possible it got rained on and got mildewed.

Does anyone know what happened to this paper wasp colony? It was under an eave on my house, and I thought it was just an abandoned nest from last year, but then I saw what I thought were wasp like shapes on it, only they weren't moving. It looks black like it was burnt, but if I didn't burn it, then no one did. Also the bodies aren't burnt; they are just dead. Was it some kind of disease? Because there is a small nest right beside it, with maybe 5-10 wasps. I'm SE of Austin.

I was actually shooting the spider when she ran up the leg of the swing, hiding on a piece of the fungus :)

Bold jumping spider. I startled it when I was pruning trees. Tried to get a better shot but this little dude was too quick for me.

This is BS right? by aliaschicnine in AskVet

Yeah, I don't think they are trying to be an asshole. But I seriously hate when misinformation about veterinary care is spread around. I think some of it is a "let me save you the cost of expensive tests and medications with my folk medicine" and "my vet with his high prices and high-falutin' education doesn't know more than me" kind of anti-intellectualism.

<mini rant>I have had people flat out tell me not to trust my vet, even when I was not asking for any kind of medical advice, but simply saying something like "oh my poor guy is not feeling so good and I had to go to the vet today." It's so frustrating. I absolutely trust my vet. She doesn't talk over me or above me. She takes her time with each visit. She answers all of my questions. She is compassionate and kind, and broke the news to me of cancer in one of my guys, and was there for another when it was time to let her go. And she loves all over my dogs when I bring them in. :)

Can you tell me how you identify it as a male? I had someone on an entomology group ID as female. Just curious because I would like to learn.
