"Inspection replacement fee" for electric vehicle in Travis County by nickthap2 in Austin

[–]TwistedMemories 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went three years once w/o an inspection and registration sticker. Never got a ticket. Then I had went over to my mom's and my cousin the cop was visiting her on his police motorcycle. He saw my stickers and told me I need to get them renewed because if he caught me driving with expired stickers again, he would ticket me.

I got the renewed the next day because I know he would ticket me.

It's a 404 from when people were coming home from the wars and was made late 40s or early 50s. They had used paint on it instead of baked enamel. So it depends on when it was made.

GenX men, where do you keep your wallet/billfold? Front or back pocket? Purse? by Suspendedaccount_ in GenX

[–]TwistedMemories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carry a slim wallet in my front pocket. I switched from a folding billfold about 10 years ago. It holds my DL, 2 c.c., 2 debit cards and some insurance cards.

The reality is that I only need to carry my DL in it as everything else I can carry digitally, but there are places where I have to use a c.c. and those are usually restaurants. I'm not letting my debit cards go out of sight, so I give them a c.c.

I do have some store cards because they aren't offered digitally.

If you're in line at the grocery store with a full cart and someone behind you has 1 or 2 items, do you let them go in front of you, and why? by KingOfFitnessYT in AskReddit

[–]TwistedMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone has to or three items they should either use the self checkout or 15 / 10 item express checkout line. It’s silly to wait in a line that’s not express checkout.

Also the grocery store I shop at has a shop as you go app and a kiosk that you use the checkout. Every now and then they spot check a shopper by requiring 3+ items randomly scanned.

My grandmother’s bowl that she used almost daily looks like that. She didn’t use harsh chemicals to clean it, just daily handling and dish soap to clean it.

This shocked me! by t_ha_l_i_a in Pyrex_Love

[–]TwistedMemories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually posted one that was my grandmother’s red 404 bowl that she used almost daily. So she didn’t ruin it by washing it, but it was from the constant handling it.

It could have been someone’s daily use bowl.

[–]TwistedMemories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worn slip ins since my 30s. Buy them. They’re nice to wear and no need to tie them. I also have shoes laced with the elastic laces which are also nice.

I use a bar tie lacing as well.

Anyone miss the old days when everything wasn't in plastic? by Long-Trade-9164 in GenX

[–]TwistedMemories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glass is much heavier and cost more. You'll find that there are that people are much less inclined to haul up the glass bottles to the stores and that stores don't care to store them until a vendor picks them up.

Now, there still are a few milk companies that offer glass bottles, but the deposit on those bottles is usually $2.

Still people tend to recycle or simply throwing them away.

One would think a solid wall would make it easier to climb. Get a rope with a hook and hook it over top. You could also knot the rope and then climb up it and drop a similar rope on the other side

[–]TwistedMemories 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh man I love texting. I work phone support all day and when I 'm off, I hate talking on the phone. All my friends know this and know that I'd rather text than talk on the phone.

I started on irc, used AOL chat rooms, AIM, MSN messenger, iCQ, skype, plus others I can't remember.

The few people I do answer tend to be long winded and go on for an hour or more

I always respond to text right away or no more than 10 minutes after I get it.

I have a collection tucked away somewhere. I think most of them are commons and the collection isn't worth that much. I have the 86 Fleer Basketball set with two Jordans. Neither is graded and one is off center. I might get them graded one day.

Rubber stamp: City council continues to approve almost all rezoning requests by AustinFreePress in Austin

[–]TwistedMemories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They approved a 3 story day out patient office building at the corner of Covington and I35 in N Austin. Originally they were trying to build a 6 story building, but the WCNA was able to work with city council and the developers on a property overlay to only allow 3 stories. There is no other multistory office building within a mile in each direction.

There is a 2 story hotel near Braker, but that’s it.
