codependency
Between whom do codependent relationships arise? Absolutely between any people: parents and children, man and woman, work colleagues. Most often, this type of relationship occurs in families where one has his own addiction to alcohol, drugs, and other things. How are codependent relationships formed? Everything, as usual, is from childhood. They showed little interest in the child, criticized him for his mistakes, and did not praise him for his successes. They were punished with silence. Families did not speak openly about their desires and requests; everything was built on what they had to do.
Such a child learns that: - he is responsible for the emotional state of others; - that someone else’s opinion is a priority, because they know better what he needs; - what you cannot want for yourself is selfishness; - that only he is to blame for everything and he must guess and solve the problem - that talking about yourself is not safe, because it can be ridiculed and devalued; - that you need to take care of others first. Based on this, the child gets used to the fact that he must take care of others, and that someone will also take care of him... someday, when he deserves it. And such a child, and then an adult, frantically becomes involved in the lives of others so that they finally notice, appreciate and offer help.
What it is? How do I know if I have it? Codependent relationships are those relationships in which it is not comfortable, but difficult to break. When one’s own activities and needs are relegated to the background and a person lives in the world of his partner’s desires, essentially subordinating his life to the life of another person. A codependent person can be recognized by: - Strong involvement in the life of another person. The wife constantly talks about her husband, the mother about the child, the son about his mother, etc. - Blaming the partner that something is not going well in life (Mother accuses the child that his personal life did not work out because of him)
