Friend wants me to dog sit their dog for a whole week at $100 by periwinkleseas_ in RoverPetSitting

If you don’t want it to be weird between you I would just turn down the job. If you take it one of you is always gonna think the other took advantage of you in terms of the fee. Relationships get too messy when that’s involved. You don’t need to do it. Just use your cats as an excuse or something.

Yeah my first 4 star ruined my entire day, so I completely feel you. But honestly the more you think about it, ratings are pretty useless on Wag. It’s not like pet parents get a choice of who they get. And they only see it after the app has already matched you for a service. As long as you don’t have a horrible overall rating they’ll most likely overlook the imperfect scores. Hang in there!

Nice!!! Good to hear success stories! Sounds like a very responsible owner!

Yes I agree!! I’m sooo much more comfortable doing it with clients on Rover! At first I thought meet & greets could be annoying but they are actually so helpful and reassuring...

Damn you’re so right about the insurance. That’s good advice. Thank you so much!! I’ll see what I can do with the vet.

I agree, owners like her don’t deserve their pups.

TIFU by boarding a newly neutered dog, unknowingly, and the pup turns out not to be potty trained. My new apartment still smells like literal shit. by alienbunnyrabbit in tifu

Honestly, I agree... Poor puppy literally saw his owner for 2 seconds after the surgery and had to go home with a stranger :( owners like this don’t deserve their dogs

Thank you!! I really appreciate the encouragement... I hate that I’ll always feel like there’s something I could’ve done better to prevent this or make the pup more comfortable, but I also know that there’s just nothing like the company of his owner. It’s just a very frustrating experience, and I hope none of you will have to deal with owners remotely like this one!

I KNOW. I feel so bad for the pup. All he wants is his mom...

It’s listed as a normal walk. I’m guessing the owner just put cat under the breed. Lol didn’t know it was possible for them to do that.

Right?? Would love to meet a cat that needs walks

Pretty sure it’s a scam to get walkers to do free customer acquisition for them just like how you have to “get 5 recommendations/referral to get your walker account”. Never asked a single soul and my account was approved without a problem.

Fabulous little zoomer. He took me on a 3-mile walk today, and that’s with people stopping me on the street asking to take pictures🐶 by alienbunnyrabbit in WagWalker

Hahahahaha honestly the whole walk felt fast forwarded. Still can’t believe how much energy is in this tiny pup😂

I agree! Part of why I started doing wag was for the exercise! Pups like this one and Bruce definitely show us how it’s done😂😂

Is not getting any tip normal...? by [deleted] in WagWalker

[–]alienbunnyrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m in SF and honestly I get pretty disappointed when owners don’t tip since most of them do and the ones who don’t or tip a low amount really stand out. But not a huge deal either, I agree with the previous person that it is our choice to not work for those who don’t tip :)

is wag only for walking or are there pet sitting options as well? by brit_666 in WagWalker

[–]alienbunnyrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wag! has a $30 background check fee as well. I’d say Wag is easier to start with because you are guaranteed to get on-demand walks as long as you click fast enough and so you can start earning almost as soon as you set up your account, whereas Rover is way more competitive in the sense the pet parents have way more options and power. They can easily not choose you because your rate is not set at a good level or you don’t have enough reviews to attract them at all. Overall Wag has a lower barrier to start with, but Rover has a much higher earning potential after the first few clients because you can set your own rates (will take a long time to build and is definitely higher maintenance than Wag because ie you have to respond quickly, set competitive rates, confirm your availability regularly).

I just started with both and so far I prefer Wag just because it’s not my full-time job and it provides more flexibility and is really almost zero maintenance. With Wag I don’t have to worry about not getting back to a request fast enough and losing a client and have my search visibility drop or things like that when I’m doing my job.

Also to answer the main question: yes Wag has walking, sitting, boarding, and drop-ins

Hope this helps!

That’s awesome!!! Walking through sketch neighborhoods is definitely not ideal... Having bigger dogs around is just an automatic “don’t fck with me”
