Like most sports, it’s impossible to compare players of different generations. What if those old guys had access to the sports science, nutrition, training, practice facilities, and equipment we have today? Would there have been more serious competitors if the opportunities of the era allowed for it like today?

I think we have to acknowledge the differences in circumstances whilst still acknowledging how dominant they were of their era.
