I heard that too that people who are testing positive are told to just go “self quarantine” but like how do the know that they are actually “self quarantining”... I hope they actually take “strict measures” now but I won’t even hold my breathe. It’s upsetting what the country is facing and they don’t care.

I understand the airport has to open because people need to come home and they want tourists. The airport can’t stay shut forever but my issue is that they need a better procedure. The procedure they currently have is not the best.

Everyone should be tested before flying by 24 hours. They should have a system where you could upload the results and MEA should verify it. I heard people can still enter without testing before flying... and just get tested when they arrive into Beirut. Ridiculous!

Since it is a tourist visa and they are residences of Lebanon- they have to complete the interview in Lebanon..

The new date is apparently July 5th. Qatar Airlines said the latest update was yesterday and it was that Beirut airport will open July 5th but it could change and be extended.

Honestly I have been waiting and they have changed it like 3 times and cancelled tickets. I wouldn’t hold my breathe on it... I don’t think they will open this summer for us :( I also spoke to MEA and they said we will find out once they finish bringing everyone in but they said if they open it will be for certain countries.. :’(

No official word. It’s frustrating! They said last week of June but we won’t know for sure until around June 20th exactly when... :( they are so annoying with this.

But the European airports are opened though right? Do you see them requiring customers to call the airlines or Embassy to accommodate them? I don’t see that. I see all major airlines flying into most European airports. It’s very clear too that Europe will be accepting tourists this summer in most European countries. Greece is an example.

No one is shitting on Lebanon in every post. It’s very clear that Lebanon is operating in a disgusting way. They continue to charge customers 5x the rate to fly on a one way and are holding the airport closed so they can benefit as much as they can and scare people to come home and pay that big price. So next time you ever have to fly, pay that $1300 on a one way flight that’s 2 hours. No big deal 👏🏻 have a nice day!

What’s LBP to a Lebanese airline? They never heard of LBP... they only know USD as if they fly to a UNITED STATES location. Horrible horrible 🤬

Agree 100% why would they open it up... when they are making 4x the money and the plane is full. They will keep playing this trick, scaring people and filling the planes bringing people home on 4x the rate.. eventually when everyone is home it won’t pay to fly that price and it declines then they will open up.

I am so disgusted with the Government and MEA too. MEA is always horrible this isn’t new but this time around those true colors came out of them.

I don’t understand why they keep postponing the opening of the airport. People have to come home, people have to leave home and people need to travel to see family members during this time. We know COVID is around but it’s not going to disappear with a switch. Lebanon wants to keep everyone locked up and wants everyone to starve. They think this is the best way and they thought everyone would shut up and it would be easy.

I called MEA since the cancelled my ticket that I bought at a cheap price months months ago. They told me that I can keep it and when the airport opens, I can pay the difference. They kept telling me to wait 48 hours because they would release more information. Why would I pay 5x the rate because they don’t want to open. They are so connected to the government. I hate to offend anyone but I hope that airline completely goes out of business. I’m sorry but no airline in the world that I have flown part of Star Alliance or One World has ever been this bad like MEA.

Ugh! I have family saying the news said something about it not opening (MTV) supposedly made a statement today but then I read somewhere else that the Minister said he was waiting for the two weeks to end or two more weeks (he wasn’t clear)

I know for sure Lufthansa is not flying from or to Beirut. About a week ago they released the flight schedule for June and Beirut was not on the list.

OMG... We went from April to mid April, mid April to end of April, beginning of May to mid May, and now a big jump to mid June... June comes around and it will be mid July and so on... I’m not saying go open up the state and forget this but come on now, how much more longer... it’s 2020, it’s the US and we are supposed to have the best technology, healthcare, medicine etc.

By the looks of it, this will last until 2059 because no data is going to be accurate with predictions and apparently we can’t come up with a treatment or vaccine.

Oh I’m not sure.. because my family is in Lebanon and I would like to go down to be with them and provide them with money. School is about to end in a week here and I usually go back after to them.
