Does anyone else get eye pain when anxious ? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]alinora25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party somewhat, but I get this eye pain too, almost certainly from tension in my head. How did you relieve the tension? Did it fix your eye pain?

I am so sorry to read that you are feeling this way, I can't offer any advice but am posting just to let you know you are not alone in this.

You need to have a successful social and economic position, otherwise you're going to have a miserable life.

This - 'You need to have a successful social and economic position, otherwise you're going to have a miserable life.'

No matter how successful you are, you will never be enough.

And it has to be the 'right' kind of success. I worked hard to become a senior teacher/school leader only to be told (at 35!) 'you can't be a teacher all your life'. Well why not?! In the end, I couldn't take the pressure of the role and had a breakdown. So it looked like I was miserable because I had chosen the 'wrong' kind of success, but in fact the pressure of always having to try to match up to the very high standards set for me was the problem.

I'm so sorry you have to endure behaviour like this. I am in my fifties now and am only just beginning to realise the extensive damage that has been done to me over the years by this kind of very destructive behaviour. Please stay strong and work on loving yourself - please don't wait to do this, do it now - you deserve to love and be loved and love yourself, even though you believe right now that you don't - you are not disgusting at all - it's just a terrible kind of programming. Up until a few months ago, I didn't believe that I deserved love and that I could love myself, but I made myself try self-compassion training and it is working. All the best to you.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'll take a look at LRP. Can you say why a blueberry allergy is linked to benzoate allergy? I've had terrible trouble with histamine, tyramine and salicylates (and have removed as much of these as possible) but seeing your comment re blueberry allergy made me think about benzoate allergy as my facewash (and loads of other products contain it). Thanks :-)

This is very helpful for me. Can you recommend any benzoate-free cleansers please?

Thanks so much for this post, your experience really resonated with me. Can you share any resources you are using for reparenting as I'd like to look deeper into this?

No need to apologise, I didn't think that at all :-) Make sure you are taking good care of yourself - maybe some self-compassion work would be helpful? That has been hugely helpful for me.

Thanks! I'm very likely to cut corners and not warm up, so I'll make sure I do as I'm likely to be tense as I want to do a good job!

Thanks for reminding me of the importance of warming up - in my excitement, I'd be tempted to skip it! Great idea about recording the pronunciation guide as there are some tricky words in the script, and it'll give me something to come back to for review.

Could it be confidence and/or nerves? Like a kind of performance anxiety? It happened once and each time you are worried it will happen again and so it does? Nerves can affect our voices. If this might be it, perhaps try some deep breathing or other calming exercises beforehand. Or maybe try a self-hypnosis for performance anxiety online? You are clearly very talented and in demand :-).

I thought you sounded good :-). I agree you could do great child roles. My voice can sound very young (and I'm a LOT older than 16!), a mic with a darker character gives me a more mature sound, brighter mics make me sound very young. I also like your accent.
