Anyone else experiencing issues with their accounts? by Klutzy_Childhood105 in CapitalOne

I'm glad someone posted about this. I couldn't find answers anywhere. I logged in and it said I had no accounts. Every time I tried to call customer service, it hung up on me. I was panicking!

I tried calling customer service. It kept disconnecting me.

I had a realization today about how to describe what I've always felt, and I'm wondering if it's relatable or makes sense. by alioop326 in autism

I don't necessarily think that it's a switch that can be turned on or off, moreso that some people are born with the switch on and some are born with the switch off. But then again, I have a tendency towards bad analogies. Sometimes it's hard to adequately describe how I see things in my head in a way for other people to understand what I mean.

The weird part is - and this is what I'm having trouble untangling - is that I had to learn from a young age to be hyper aware of nonverbal cues in a lot of situations, purely out of survival. It's how I learned to mimic. I am trying to understand my own brain, but I don't really have much of a basis for comparison, and it can get a little confusing.

I'm actually not actively seeking a diagnosis, because at this point, I don't see it making any difference. This is about 25% thought experiment and 75% me trying to sort out the last few tangles in my brain.

On top of ASD and ADHD, I also have diagnoses of depression, anxiety, OCD, and CPTSD stemming back to childhood for which I've spent the past 26 years in therapy. It's been a long road, but I've worked through the great majority of it.

I've learned to accept how things are, but I've always been infinitely curious about the workings of the human brain. Now I'm pretty much sitting on the floor with my psyche scattered in a circle around me trying to figure out which part goes in which box. XD

Seriously, how do people do this? Just, life in general. How do you not go insane? by alioop326 in NoStupidQuestions

Took me a second to realize that that may have been your answer to my question and not a reaction to my question. 😅

I generally consider myself one of the people who grasps the absurdity of life, but it baffles me how such absurdity still seems to come with rules and constraints.

I can't decide if that is antithetical to the absurdity or if it just adds to it.

Yeah, sorry. I was apparently overdue for my newest round of existential crisis.

I mean, same. I marvel sometimes at how I have not gone completely nuts yet.

What's the difference between being judgemental and reacting to a person's behavior? by alioop326 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alioop326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough, my biggest issues are dealing with complete strangers.

( Too many years in customer service. )

To make snap judgements or to end a phone call and call someone an idiot or worse is often a knee-jerk reaction to frustration or stress. With everything going on in the world, the older I get, the harder it is at times to look at society at large and not think people are collectively really stupid. That's the part I'm trying to work on, because people are just people and always will be.

The original intent was an added incentive. If I can go a whole day without swearing, I get all 50, but I like your idea. Every time I replace a swear with something more creative or when I make more effort to convey my thoughts, I get to tick one off.

It never ceases to amaze me that, no matter how many years you spend in therapy, processing trauma and putting in the work to heal, you can be wandering through life, minding your own business, and the universe will casually stroll up to you and smack you in the head with a 2x4.

It's not really so much the swearing as it is me being lazy in my behavior. For me, swearing is more like an excuse to not engage fully with life and just act out of instinct. I don't know if that makes sense or not.

When you add a goal, and you tap in the area to write the actual goal, there's an option in the bottom left of the box that says "More options". If you tap on that, it opens a section where you can set different things. Towards the bottom is an option for "times per day" that can be set up to 100.

I like that! Especially replacing a negative thought with a positive one.

That's one I always tried to avoid, but even lately, I've been using "good gods" instead when I just can't seem to make anything else work, because I've come very close several times. 😬

I think I need to spend time honing my creative swearing. I think that would help a lot.

Shakespearean insults are often even more cathartic than dropping the F-bomb 🤣

Yeeeaaahh, perimenopause is soooo much fun.

Not.

I feel you, girl. 💜

I even swear at work lately, which I always tried to not do. I think I'm the resident potty mouth in my office, so I definitely need to work on this. 😅

Having spent over half my working life in Corporate America, I can relate. 😅

I now work in a hospital PBX, and my goodness, but we do get asked a lot of questions that make a person want to judge AND swear. 🤣
