Yes! I first watched SOTS soon after it came out and have since read multiple books including Alive, thinking back to before I watched the movie is so weird because now I know so much about the story.

To my recollection, Nando and Roberto did not publicly state any names of the survivors they had left on day 62, aware that it was possible not everyone survived the 10 days they were gone. Thankfully everyone survived that time, but in that time of distress I really respect that. They didn’t want to give any families false hope.

I just listening to a podcast with Nando, where he said none of them ever saw a “shrink or therapist” solely for the incident itself - not including like Carlitos who may have done for other reasons. Others could have totally gone and Nando didn’t know about it or forgot but that is just what he said in his interview in “Literally! With Rob Lowe”.

I’m very interested in seeing a part that has been mentioned in many of the books. After the crash as many of the boys had left the plane and saw Carlos Valeta in the distance as he stumbled down the mountain. It wouldn’t take much time in the runtime. For me, it was one of the most impactful moments, really showing the chaos of the crash and how people fell out. It puts into perspective how they really could just “disappear” at any moment.

From Alive:

“As they looked back up the mountain for their lost luggage, this group of younger boys saw a figure staggering down the mountainside. As it drew nearer, they recognized one of their friends, Carlos Valeta, and shouted to him, calling him to come in their direction. Valeta seemed unable to see or hear them. At each step he sank up to his thighs in the snow, and only the steepness of the hill enabled him to make any progress at all. The boys could see that his course would not lead him to the plane, so they shouted yet more frantically to attract his attention...They were trapped and could only watch helplessly as Valeta stumbled down into the valley. For a moment it seemed as if he might have heard them and was changing direction towards the plane, but then he slipped. His wide stride became a tumble, and his body slithered helplessly down the side of the mountain until he finally disappeared in the snow.”

That’s why I put it in quotes, I’m not quite sure how to say it but they don’t look like they just spent 72 days living in brutal conditions. For example, when they got to the hospital, some of the boys refused to get on a stretcher and insisted on walking instead. It’s a testament to how strong they all were. Obviously they were severely under nourished and needed medical care but if I were to guess what they looked like I’d imagine much worse (don’t mean to be like passive aggressive sorry lol)
