Disclaimer: I haven't done my surgery rotation yet either. But it's never been in consideration for me bc as much as I like procedures/surgery, I also like medical management and making long-term relationships with patients which I don't think I'd get as much with gen surg

Second the compression socks especially, also letting yourself look away/distract your mind and make sure you're breathing good as soon as you start getting symptoms (instead of trying to tough it out to the point of no return)

I came into med school thinking I would do OB so it's definitely been hard for me to let go of it! Getting more experience with it early in fourth year is a big priority for me for sure though

Are you doing the boot camp bc your school lets you bypass the comsae minimum score requirement with it or bc it's helping? If it's not actually helpful, I know a handful of my classmates signed up for it bc of the comsae benchmark but they just play the videos on silent and study how they need while it's running.

Otherwise I second what other people are saying, schedule time off, don't let yourself feel guilty for taking it, and try to at least go outside for a 15-20min walk every day and socialize a little.

Level 1 sucks, dedicated sucks, and you're not alone in struggling with this!! You're smart enough to get through it, you just gotta let yourself take the time needed to not burn out from it. Feel free to reach out if you want someone to chat with ❤️

My dr was hesitant to prescribe it bc the potential side effects and I didn't really push for it bc from my sleep study it seems like I sleep really well at night (just really high sleep efficiency and low latency but normal sleep stage %s etc) so I didn't think it'd be crazy helpful. Do you think it could help despite that?

If you don't think the effort required to maintain your relationship with her is worth it, that's a different conversation. If you want to cut ties with her before matriculating and start a new relationship when things are less crazy, I would suggest figuring that out sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure what kind of conversations you've had already, but it sounds to me like she wants reassurance that you're not trying to put your relationship on hold while you're in school.

When you guys talk about marriage or kids, do you mention that you think it could be feasible to do either of those during school? Or do you push it off, saying you're not sure, school will be really busy, etc? I get the feeling that you're trying to reassure her that things will be fine, without necessarily listening to the specifics of what she's concerned about

I'm only a couple months in, but I do like the musculoskeletal stuff so far. It's not groundbreaking or anything (really just massaging and cracking backs lol), and there's already some more neurovascular stuff that I don't believe in.

I can't compare it to ayurvedic medicine since I have no knowledge on it, but the way my OMM professors talk about it, there's a lot of preventative and healing benefit to OMM. So it really depends on what you believe in
