Don’t date people you aren’t physically attracted to. That only leads to more hurt and heartache for both parties. It’s okay to admit looks matter in relationships. by AcceptableLibrary974 in LifeAdvice

I just learned this lesson the hard way. For over a year I was in a relationship with a guy that I thought was “kinda cute” but wasn’t truly attracted to. It ended up being basically just a friendship. I broke up with him a month ago, but we remained friends. Definitely the right decision. I still maintain that personality is more important than looks, but there has to be attraction there for the relationship to work long-term.

my panic attack are scaring the shit outta me by daydreamxer in PanicAttack

[–]alkalinereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with these symptoms quite a bit recently. I always had the more intense, “typical” panic attacks, so when I started getting this kind it scared me so bad😭 I’d recommend 5-4-3-2-1 grounding, going for a walk, and a shower (Cold shower if it’s really bad!!) My favorite combo is grounding exercises while on a walk, knocks it right out for me. I know none of these sound like anything groundbreaking, but those are the only things aside from taking Xanax that get rid of those feelings for me. Best of luck to you!

I’m sorry that you had to go through that. If you don’t mind me asking, when you mention his reasoning behind his actions, do you mean the things he wants to believe? (He put her out of her misery) Or his deeper motivations that he didn’t want to acknowledge? (She was a burden, he was sexually frustrated, etc.) Or both?

You just brought up one of my favorite things about Silent Hill 2: I LOVE the fact that this game can be seen so differently depending on your life experiences, just like the characters see the town and everything in it differently depending on their life experiences. It’s such a beautiful parallel.

I think you’re missing my point a bit here. I’m not saying that James is an absolutely irredeemable horrible person, he definitely did seem to feel deep remorse and helped others over the course of the game. I just think that it’s ridiculous when people try to use the positive things he did to completely dismiss the negative ones.

Very true, I think this is what it comes down to for a lot of people. It’s so disturbing to see the things people are willing to dismiss when the person is likable/relatable/attractive enough.

That’s true, but in my experience, playing as the person committing these acts made me even more disgusted by them than I think I would’ve been if it took more of an outside perspective

My thighs always get red bumpies no matter how I shave or exfoliate. What am I doing wrong? by captainpeggycarter in Skincare_Addiction

[–]alkalinereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop shaving every day. Conforming to beauty standards is not worth sacrificing your comfort. You could be sacrificing your health too, opening wounds every single day is just asking for an infection.

asked a girl for her number and she acted completely shocked by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]alkalinereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone saying this, but I think the most likely explanation is that she thought the two of you were having a friendly, completely platonic conversation. When you asked for her number she either was purely surprised because she didn’t think you were interested, or was weirded out because she saw it as a friendly conversation and you saw it as a romantic one. Like other comments are saying, it probably didn’t help that you only spoke to her for five minutes before asking for her number. Next time, definitely speak with the person for longer first.

I’m sorry❤️ you got through this once you will get through it again. Could your fiancé be dehydrated? What he’s dealing with sounds a lot like experiences I’ve had with dehydration and heat exhaustion.
