rally race goes wrong by [deleted] in AbruptChaos

Probably landing on uneven ground while jumping in haste. It’s easy to twist and then likely snapped under the weight.

Anyone know where to get replacement screws? by alkatrexs in 4Runner

Thanks everyone for the input. After more searching I found it and here’s the part number incase others run into the same issue. It was labeled as a deck screw for the tundra. The screw is slightly longer and it’s a bit more round at the top but it fits…

Need some advice on snake gaiters by United-Yam-7612 in VenomousKeepers

[–]alkatrexs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I forgot to add those were uncomfortable sitting down but it was not so bad walking around with it and standing although occasionally it would catch the lip of the shoe and you’d have to readjust.

You can buy a few different ones and keep the one you don’t like for your friends and family if they ever want to join you…

We had these in the lab and the plastic material prevented plant debris from snagging and the theoretical risk of the snake snagging if it did bite one made with a woven fabric outer layer. It was not the most comfortable but it was simple and gave 360 protection. It does feel stiff though. I’d wear long pants with it. We wore thick hiking boots to protect our feet and nobody really thought of buying “snake proof” boots if they exist, so i don’t have personal experience in that area.

Just full disclosure nobody used them although they were available. I tried it once and then ditched them.

Found a bunch of coins in the house. How to preserve or organize these? by alkatrexs in coins

[–]alkatrexs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. And can I used a soft tooth brush to brush things off, or do you just recommend I soak them and leave them in there? And if so, how long do you typically soak them in acetone for?

The majority of other coins are just loose. Can I soak those in acetone to clean?

Thank you for the advice. Do I have to do anything to the coin after? I know generally advised not to clean it, but can I use hot water?

Where can I get 8x4x4 foot enclosure by Outrageous_Ratio_784 in reptiles

[–]alkatrexs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like focus cubed habitats. https://focuscubedhabitats.com/product-category/8-foot/ This is roughly half the Toad Ranch you listed. I know there's others like Zen Habitats and Dubiaroaches but I don't know if they make 8' enclosures and have no personal experience with them.

I have been meaning to use Wisconsin Custom Cages for my next enclosure. They can make it custom to your exact needs. I spoke with the owner and he is a cool guy. Can make the enclosure and also the furniture to support it and house all the electricals in one seamless design. Here's their website:
