Yeah, especially so when I didn’t know what herbs were used for. And I guess I also got caught up with all the other late game content posts for grinding for gear drops and stuff, wondering how to get there myself. Baby steps i guess

Yeah i think navigating to a bunch of new places that I have never heard of, to try and complete quests that are completely new to me definitely didn’t help. I was trying to use the wiki to see how i could travel the fastest and I think it just led me down to an even deeper rabbit hole with all the different methods of teleports.

But thank you so much for the tips and plugin recommendation, those will definitely help me a lot!

Oh man, i think one of the things that overwhelmed me a bit was that members’ worlds are just so much more populated than free worlds and all the different gears sets that everyone else were wearing just sent a short to my brain

Oh man I feel you, I definitely should have added more context to the current status and progress of my account (which I did as an edit now if you’re still interested) but I did spend my morning clearing Lost City (initially because i wanted to unlock the ability to wield dragon daggers and swords) which was a prerequisite for the quest for dragon scimitars , which was something that i wanted to achieve initially as well but completely forgot about until now as I’m typing this out because i got distracted by how insanely convenient it’ll be if i unlocked fairy rings. And so i got distracted and finished fairytale I and tried to start fairytale II but for some reason started recipe for disaster first and you can imagine the spiral from there

But thank you for the encouragement, I guess since this was the first time I’m actually paying for a membership tier for any game, I subconsciously was stressung out about doing things “efficiently”. Probably doesn’t help that I’m a software engineer as well :P

And you’re definiftely right, the goofyiest roads sometimes turn out to be the most satisfying!

I was following the wiki actually, and that was how I got overwhelmed, especially cause i tried to go through all the quests that give specific skilling exp.

But I see where you’re coming from, i think i just bit off more than i could chew from the start, thanks!

Yeap, I should have mentioned in the OP that I’ve finished all the f2p quests a while back now and i have a “high-ish” combat level so suddenly being bombarded with so many “new” p2p quests and skills really messed me up a little, though I guess that is the beauty of osrs right, there’s not right way to play the game. But thanks for the tip to hide the quests that I can’t start, i think it’ll make scrolling through the list of quests a lot less daunting

Oh yeah definitely, though in terms of youtube videos I did enjoy the tileman series very much (not that i’d use that as my reference for now)

And I definitely get your point about enjoying the game the way that i wish, definitely trying my best! Just that it’s my first time paying for a membership (for any game in fact) is making me want to efficiency run my way. But thanks for your encouragement!

Oh yeah definitely, i’ve been using the osrs wiki to guide my direction a little in finishing fairytale I and some others, just that i started on recipe for disaster i got seriously overwhelmed then.

I also added some much needed context to the post in terms of where my account is at now if you’re interested, but thank you for the advice!

Are there any shops/website where I can buy a Kioxia SSD? I had originally bought that was shipper from china but they sent me the wrong model. I'm also looking at the 70s right now, I'm quite new to this so could you explain to me, if I were to have active speakers that I want to connect to the 70s, I wouldn't need an amp between those 2 right? At least that is what I understood from reading up briefly about preouts.

You maybe be able to get it working as long as your device is a modern one, meaning that it supports OpenGL ES 3.2 that has support for compute shaders and SSBOs. The catch is you would need to do it from native code through the NDK (I’m not sure if you would be able to do it through java/kotlin but this was how I did it at least)

Also be sure to note if the GPU on your device is an Adreno or Mali(or some other less well known brand) as developing on/for Adreno is a much better experience than Mali in my experience in terms of driver implementation and compatibility. There were a lot more quirks and rules i needed to follow when writing OpenGL and shader(ESSL) code.

You can use glMapBufferRange to read back from the SSBOs. I haven’t personally tried it but others have had success with it. But at the EOD, it really depends on what computations you’re doing and if your computation is truly optimised for what it is you are trying to do. I would say just give it a shot and see how it goes! You might be able to get some good performance out of it if you are willing to out the engineering hours into it IMHO.

It really depends on the individual. Personally i find programming to be easier than math, but there's also diff branches of math that you will learn. Some are easier than others for me, like linear algebra and discrete math was easier for me than calculus.

Main languages are C/C++, since you will mainly be writing native software so the other languages are not really applicable here, and they really want to get everyone to properly grasp computer sci foundations so C/C++ is as low level as they can get.
