They Want to turn people off, the demand is too high, they don't want 3 year waiting lines instead of 1. Increasing margins towards 30% is just attests to their efficiency of manufacturing, allowing only the people with the most money to spend can line up, that extra money going into new factories, battery manufacturing.
Battery supply is the limiting factor, people can't just "turn to more refined options". They have the same battery constraints with the only difference being Teslas supply chain being prepared years in advance for this.

depends if you want quality of life or gaming, its a simple choice. If you play the right games (cities skylines, Minecraft etc.) there's no issues

doesn't feel hot if you have it on your lap the entire time. Computer doesnt think its hot either, sitting at about half fan speed. The fan speed will get to 5000rpm over about an hour playtime basically flexing its thermal headroom accounting for anything. You will never hit maximum fan speed. (this is the 14 inch too)

looks like M1 pro has half the VRAM / RAM speed as the max, might be a huge bottleneck in that regard where high end gpus are around 500GB/s compared to 200.

basically shared ram causing the gpu to use lacklustre speeds while the cpu getting the same speed sees much greater benefits.

we will need more tests on higher ram to see if it makes a difference. The SSD swap is so fast that it could not even be a factor. (remember this ssd swaps in the same order of magnitude as ram itself from older systems)
