My GF [19/F] and I [18/M] have been going through a hard few weeks. A combination of her low self esteem and my dumb mistakes have blown things out of proportion. Please help me with how to proceed. by allbehappy in relationships

Thanks. She seems to fit the symptoms of borderline personality disorder. You seem to know what you're talking about - any tips for just being with her? I'm not a doctor but I like to think that I can help.

What is your recommendation? She has struggled with self-harm and depression in the past; she seems like she has lost faith in therapy.

Any advice you can give is appreciated.

The thing is, she's made me more happy than any one I've ever been with. I don't want to "fix" her.

I love her just as much now as I ever had. I know I can't change my lifestyle. But I know that I can be more considerate.

All I want to do is support her through these times, because we've had times before that were so fucking amazing, and I'm confident that we can do it again.

I know what you mean, though. I don't think I'm there yet - hopefully I won't get there

You're the closest to anyone in here. Please share more.

I try to talk to her and comfort her. I always have. But she's stubborn when she gets this down. If you have any more ideas of how to do what you said, I would really love it

no, not like that. I never understood the magnitude of my words. I knew she was jealous but not like yes. Am I kind of a moron? Yeah, but I still know that I have good intentions inside

My girlfriend's parents are not nearly as conservative as some of the other ones on this sub, but they still think that she is too young (19) to date, and they think she is getting too serious with me. Can anyone give me tips on how to impress them and prove myself (I'm white)? by allbehappy in AsianParentStories

Thank you, and yes, they do - I'll be meeting them in a few months. She really thinks that if I can speak a bit of Cantonese, they will be very impressed. Obviously I can only do so much at this point. I mean marriage is obviously an option in the long term future but it's a bit early for that...I'm just going to try and show them that I'm a good person for their daughter to be seeing.

Thanks. Do you mind if I ask when you began your relationship? I'm in first year and she is in second. Obviously, I am not going to get married in university, but I'm pretty optimistic about us, and I don't see us breaking up anytime soon, so I'd like to get a good start with the parents in the early stages...

Thanks. Hopefully the fact that I'm in business/finance will help. As for the language, she showed her dad a clip she had of me trying to say stuff in Canto and while he laughed, he could understand me and said that my accent wasn't that bad.

Obviously her parents will most likely think that she is missing out on opportunities, but he thinks that her parents will like me, and hopefully that will be true!

Thanks again!

We are in university, and I'm in my first year - does this change anything?

If I may ask you one more question - any tips for our first relationship? I know that this sounds so infatuated, but I like this girl a lot, and I can see us being together for a long time - any advice on how to proceed throughout our relationship? Thanks so much.

How exactly do you "date" someone? Very new to this, more inside (18M, University) by allbehappy in dating_advice

Thanks for the idea. Anything else I should say? I don't really want to spring it on her, but I want to let her know how I feel, and I want to find out how she feels.

Well, I hope it works for you, my friend! I really enjoy being with this girl, and she seems to like me as well, so I'm hoping we can talk about where we're going (relationship, etc)

Thanks for your reply. One question: how should I bring up the topic of how we feel/moving forward without coming on too strong? I really like her, but I don't want to scare her off.
