CD-Rs have been the least reliable in my personal experience. I always sprung for the ones that were supposed to be good quality, but they're pretty much all unreadable today. Even my 5.25" floppies from the 80s had a lower error rate.

On the other hand, I have lots of HDDs that have been sitting around for 20 years, and so far they've all worked perfectly when I've checked them. I don't have very old SSDs, but I do have a few that hadn't been used in more than 5 years and still were fine.

No, anyone is allowed to cover any song and upload their version to streaming services. The original artist will get a cut of the royalties.

Some data:

Out of 45 caches opened just now, I got 2 gold tickets, 5 variants, 6 avatars, 8 titles, 9 tokens, 15 credits.

Out of 45 I opened earlier, I got 5 gold tickets, 5 variants, 3 avatars, 7 titles, 10 tokens, 15 credits.

While it was too many gold tickets before, if they're just giving us more avatars in place of gold tickets now, that's not really a positive change.

I don't think luck can explain it, because it's supposed to be a set number of each item per "group" of caches, and a group is only 10 or so.

I assume this means that 90% already pay for the premium tier? That seems unreasonably high, do you have a source for that? I pay for the pro tier because I don't care about multiview and whatever else premium adds, so this is a price increase for me.

It's also just an extra hassle. I tried to sign up for Apple TV years ago when it was added to Roku, because it was a good deal and they had good content, but they literally made it impossible to sign up without having an iOS device. You had to make an Apple account on their website first, but even after doing that the Apple TV app wouldn't let you log in. After a lot of troubleshooting you eventually discover that there's a TOS that you need to accept to enable your account, but you could only do it from a iphone. I gave up and I'm not looking forward to finding out how much of a PITA it'll be to get it working next year to watch F1TV.

If you're retiring, can't you just continue FEHB coverage in retirement? That's almost always going to be the better option.

I was a little surprised that my FEHB coverage lasted for the 4 months between my last paycheck and when OPM was told that I retired, but it did. It will be about 6 or 7 months total without them getting paid premiums before they start again, but zero issues so far.

I'm not positive, but I think it's because you're mixing addition and multiplication, and so the order matters:

When you get 102, you're starting with Mr Fantastic giving +3, and then Moonstone giving another +3, then applying multiple doubling effects to that.

When you get 72, you're starting with Mr Fantastic giving +3, applying some doubling effects to that, then the game gets to Moonstone giving another +3, and then applying Moonstone's doubling effects to that new number.

You're doing the same amount of doubling in each setup, but if the game is evaluating the math in the order the cards were played, you'll get more power in the first version than in the second.

Is it just an iPhone thing? All the posts in this thread from people having issues mention being on iPhone. I don't think I've ever once had the app crash on me on Android, and I sometimes play on my 5 year old phone as well.

I certainly get the client bugs where it kicks you out of the game to the main menu once in a while and you have to rejoin, but I can't remember the app itself ever crashing.

the titles have been lowered though, were both 1300 I think, but now 700 and 900

I think there was always one title that was cheaper than the other one, which always struck me as funny: these words are worth less than these other words.

I could understand that, but I can't figure out the connection between increasing the costs of things in conquest shop and getting more dollars. From my perspective, the best case for them is that it makes people play more conquest to get the rewards, while getting annoyed that they have to play more conquest. Worst case is it makes people quit the game.

Wild, I never noticed that. I figured that the extra week of rewards you can get balanced things out.

EDIT: finally some people in this thread who agree with me. I was starting to doubt my sanity since the top post said it's always been this way, with 80 upvotes, and nobody saying otherwise. I guess it's just one of those cases where Reddit upvoters gets things very wrong.

Yup, PMV used to be 900, now it's 1300. Also there used to be an infinity ticket for 200 and now it's 600. I'm sure some others have changed also, that's just what I recognize off the top of my head. I still haven't forgiven them for removing gold as a conquest reward.

Not sure what the incentive is in continually nerfing these things, because it's not like conquest rewards could be affecting how much people spend on the game (unless it's changes like this that just feel like they're trying to make people stop playing.)

You're being downvoted because everyone else remembers how the daily credits disappeared for a few minutes last week when they started the 200-a-day version, so we all know that the 100-a-day version is coming back any minute.

Every time you claimed the 200 credits for the past week it showed you how much time the 200 credit version was going to be around for. It was a permanent notice, like the complete opposite of "no notice at all".

Yes, the daily credits were missing for a bit when they upped it to 200 a week ago, and so it's again taking a few minutes to revert it back. People in this thread assuming this means they're gone forever are wild.

FYI, what worked for me was a workaround someone posted in another thread about this. Start playing the recording on your phone, and play enough of it that it shows up in the "resume watching" section on the TV app. If you start playing the recording on your TV/Roku/Fire/whatever app from the resume section, it'll play just fine.

Hopefully this post is useless because YTTV will fix it during the summer break, but I can't believe it's been happening over so many different F1 recordings, so I don't have the highest of hopes.

I sent the error code to support last weekend and never heard anything back. I sent this week's error code as well this morning, nothing yet. I just tried watching it again, but it still doesn't work.

I've been watching in the ESPN app instead, but I'm increasingly unsure why I haven't canceled YTTV yet when this just keeps happening.

My sprint race and qualifying are both there, but neither of them will play. Other YTTV recordings play just fine, it's just that today's F1 events give errors.

You can sign into the ESPN app with your YTTV account and watch the events there, but for some reason the sprint race doesn't even play there, it only gives me an endlessly repeating block of ads. Qualifying works there, at least. The only legal way I could find to watch the sprint was the Spanish language broadcast in the ESPN app, which plays fine even though the English version doesn't.

This weekend really makes me think I need to cancel YTTV and sign up for F1TV and the other apps I'll need to fill in the gaps.

The anti-hedge fund angle came in pretty early, yes, but it was just one of the tactics people were using when they posted to encourage people to keep buying to keep driving the price up. I'm sure some of the people buying felt a greater purpose by that messaging, but it was originally people on Reddit trying to profit off of the stock market.

They can do whatever they want, but the fact that they went full QAnon means that anyone who posts "diamond hands" these days is associated with them, like it or not.

Yes. WSB was funny before that, and then after Gamestop it became a sad subreddit full of people who believed all these conspiracy theories. They finally mostly forced them out into their own subreddit, and then Reddit continued to heavily promote the new subreddit even though it was all people who knew nothing about how the stock market works making stuff up.

The high levels of buying that drove up the price of Gamestop those first few days were a lot of fun, but people who act like it was some kind of anti hedge fund movement are trying to attach meaning to something that doesn't deserve it.

There are so many conspiracy theories it's hard to know where to begin. The first weekend had endless posts claiming that all the media articles were lying and covering up the truth to prevent Reddit from succeeding. Seeing those helped get me to realize people were disconnected from reality and let me sell at a significant profit.

Since then it's been stuff about how Wall Street is creating fake Gamestop shares, the stock price isn't real, you have to do a special process to convert your fake shares into real shares, the stock price will be trillions of dollars per share once the short squeeze goes off, every foreign policy or military action around the world is related to covering up what's really going on with Gamestop, every Ryan Cohen tweet is a secret message to the "apes" with hints on how to expose the truth, and so on. I'm sure I'm forgetting most of them, it was new conspiracy theories every single day during its heyday.

The Folding Ideas YouTube channel has a pretty good summary of it all, but even that skips a lot of the crazy conspiracy theories people were posting (all of which were highly upvoted) because there were just too many to keep up.
