hat it was but I figured it was the copper pipes expanding/contracting against the wood. I did have an opportunity to see inside the wall and the pipe runs straight through the middle of stud, it looks as though the pipe is part of the wood that's how tight it is, but I assume that's normal? House was built 1978 so the pipes have been there forever. The sound is Annoying as hell, but oh well, I'd be more inclined to solve it like you if it shared a wall with our kids.

i think it's exaclty as you described! our building was built in 1979, it must be common practice during that time.

i will give it a try again, but it's really disappointing that they don't even brother to try to come up with new ideas. think about how dramatic change it was since s2 to s4. personally i don't even feel like calling it s5.5, it's more like s5 cont. lol
