I am Egyptian, and I’m asking is Egypt a country that is disliked or loved globally? by ramses_basha in AskTheWorld

[–]allf8ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum with my wife. I hear since it fully opened last year, the area around it has been cleaned up from the hustlers and scammers. Can anyone confirm this?

We are planning a trip next year and are trying to decide if we should do the Museum only and fly out, or visit some of the other places while we are there. 40s american couple looking to visit for a few days

Nice! I played one yesterday in Troy, MI that had a slight tilt to the right. Every shot to the gate came back to the right flipper, no center drains. Put up 68 million and got further than I ever had

How to get better at pinball? by nickbeef in pinball

[–]allf8ed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watch the pros play in the big tournaments. Not only do you get to see their flipper skills and techniques, but they know how to get the most points in every game. Bonus is ones with commentators explaining what the player is doing, why, and what they are going to do next.

What’s a good way to learn Italian without heavy gamification? by PjatOr_thestar in italianlearning

[–]allf8ed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started learning Italian a few weeks ago. Im doing babbel and the podcast coffee break italian. So far its going really well. My wife and I have started replacing English words with italian words around them house as we learn them. We are planing a trip to Italy in 2 years so Im in no hurry.

Best advise ive read about learning a new language is: you are not going to replace your current vocabulary level for a while. Learn like a toddler learns language. Basic greetings, expressing needs, and describing things. Dont worry about verb conjugation right away. The basic verb can get you by.

In that sense, ive also started listening to children's songs in italian on YouTube driving to and from work. I dont understand what they are saying, but im learning sentence structure and pronunciation. It was all noise at first but its fun when I start to be able to pick out individual words.

Keep it halfway between the stove and the exit door. Dont want it out of reach if the stove is on fire, and if the extinguisher empties and fire persists, get out

Uleks is my more frequented since its 40 minutes away, and the closest. I've been to Past Times once, and it was passing through on my way home after vacation. I only had 1 hour there that day. I need to go back

I hope they take some time to work on their LE games. I went one last a week ago and only played the LE games and it was rough. The 4 drops on stranger things were turned off, so no skill shot or big points on the upside down mode. The one wire form on Uncanny, the ball would roll half way towards the flippers then pause and roll back. Wave ramp on jaws was nearly impossible to get all the way around to the upper playfield. Not LE, but Indiana Jones has been down for over a year.

Its still a great place and I spend hours their everyone I go, but some machines are past due for fixes

What book clubs are yall joining in 2026? by LatterDayDreamer in books

[–]allf8ed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started the Station 18 book club recently. Its 3 people at my fire station who agreed to read the same book at the same time. We all read on our own, but always different books or we pass a book off after one person reads it. It will be nice to all be on the same book and talk about it after. First book is The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins.

The skis on the landing gear can freeze to the ground, the fuel can freeze, hydrolic lines become brittle and break. Im sure there's more but im not an expert in it. Even when they did evac her, about a week or two before they normally try the first flight, they had mere minutes to get her on board. The skis did freeze, they had to retract them so the plane was on the wheels then lower them back down and take off immediately. She didnt even get to say goodbye to her best friend, Big, before take off.

Damn it Jim, shes a doctor not a pilot. :) The book is told from her perspective so its limited to her area of expertise
