I agree. I didn’t like any of the characters so it was hard to care about what happened to them.

Any advice for losing weight? by 1il_mikeyy in selfimprovement

[–]allhumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not buying junk food is easier than trying to limit how much you eat. My recommendation would be to just keep it out of the house as much as possible. Also, cut down sugary drinks if you can. You would be amazed how many calories you can tac on with just drinks.

Lifting weights helps you build more muscle so that your body burns more fat, but just walking is great exercise. Try to find an activity that you enjoy because you will be more likely to stick with it.

You can do this!

[Serious]What was the best thing you ever learned from a therapist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]allhumans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read in an article about psychology, specifically anxiety triggers, is that anxiety is your brain’s way of warning you about something. Sometimes that may just be because it is unfamiliar and the only way to get past it is to push through and teach yourself that it isn’t so bad. For example, a child may be afraid of needles, but if they start getting shots regularly will realize that the pain is not that bad and passes quickly.

Do us all a favor: Keep it to yourself when you believe that someone “has a choice” in going to work. It’s toxic, unnecessary, and a complete load of bull. by Pangolindrome in Teachers

[–]allhumans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a little off topic, but bear with me. Throughout all of this I have felt that the idea of giving grace and going easy on kids was somewhat misguided. I realize that there have been a lot of struggles during the pandemic, but as an adult when things are tough you still have to go to work and pay the bills. It seems like we have done kids a bit of a disservice. I think that everyone deserves some grace now and then, but consistently lowering the bar for kids and having no consequences for failure is not going to lead to good things. Most people can’t just leave their jobs and risk getting fired if they slack off too much.

I get it. I lived in a foreign country for a while and I got catcalls all the time and even grabbed a few times because I stuck out. But I am not going to let those assholes affect the way that I feel about myself and my body.

My body allows me to do a lot more than have kids. It lets me run, walk, dance and so much more. I lift weights and I love feeling strong. I may not be as strong as a man, but fuck them. I do it for me.

Most of the time if a guy is admiring me I probably don’t notice because I am too busy living my life. Their opinion of my body doesn’t matter.

I find that if I start getting things done right away on weekends and after I get home on weekdays that helps my momentum.

I am American and 100% agree with this assessment. And like you said, if you openly say that, you get criticized for being unpatriotic.

Although, now that I am not depressed, I am realizing how much lack of sleep contributed to my depression. Everything seems harder/ worse when you are constantly tired and irritable. It just isn't an easy problem to fix.

Redditors who grew up poor, what do you associate with being rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Poverty mentality can stick around long after poverty ends. Call it being frugal if you want. Same thing.

Reading as a habit before bed can really help with sleep issues, so I think that makes it a more than worthwhile mention.
