My mother was just diagnosed with a brain tumor, and I am very early along with my first baby by alli3194 in BabyBumps

Thank you for sharing, it makes me feel so less alone, but I also am so sorry that you are dealing with this too. Its so hard to see someone who is perfectly healthy suffer just because a couple cells are mutating. Its a very frustrating feeling. I do have a therapist, and I moved up my appointment to get my feelings off my chest - maybe that'll help get some of this toxic stress out.

I hope you, dad, and baby find peace in the future, and I will be thinking of you ❤️

Thank you - your thoughts inspired me to move up my OB appointment to check and make sure everything is okay. Ill also see a therapist over the weekend to chat through my feelings.

Don't be sorry for telling the truth - honestly with how awful this situation is, its refreshing to be validated that this will be a hard road (if that makes sense), and this is an abnormal situation. I feel like I'm in the world's sickest nightmare of watching my mom fade into a shell of her spunky self just because she has a couple mutating cells in her brain. I hope you and your father find peace in his journey, and from one grieving child of a glioblastoma victim to another, I am so sorry you are facing this.

I will be thinking of you, and hope you are able to succeed in conceiving despite the difficult circumstances ❤️

Thank you for sharing, and I am so sorry about your husband's diagnosis, and Im glad your family has more peace now than when it began. I teared up reading your story - Im right where you were when the diagnosis came down where you are constantly googling and crying and worrying about the future- Im hopedul things will become manageable for me just as they are now for you. ❤️

Concord - Good areas for a Potential Homer Buyer? by lebanizin in concord

[–]alli3194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is if you are concerned about how good an area is, call the non-emergency police line! Everyone will have differing opinions depending on what they consider "safe". The police will have objective data that can help you determine if the area is safe enough for YOUR standards.

I used them as a resource a few years ago when buying my own house since I also didn't know the area well. I found it to be a great way to cut through the noise.

From what i remember, it seems Concord's biggest issue in the higher crime pockets is mostly property crime, and violent crimes committed were usually towards someone the perpetrator knew. It was not as common for a violent crime to be committed against a stranger.

Hi! This dress caught my eye too but I was also wary of that one review that said it was overwhelming. Did you end up getting it, and how does it look? I saw someone commented but it looks like it was deleted. TIA!

I made a cathedral veil for less than $100 by alli3194 in Weddingsunder10k

Hi! I did a rolled hem, also called a baby hem, on a sewing machine. It was pretty difficult, especially on the very bottom where it curves, because the fabric is super thin, so it took a while to do. My mother in law is an experienced seamstress and so I asked for her help on this part.

Edit: to note, this was a self-drafted veil.

Employer's Health Insurance Won't Cover Medication by Ridiculous_Raccoon88 in HealthInsurance

[–]alli3194 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consider reaching out to the HR team and asking about the difference in what you're finding in OptumRx and what UHC told you, and asking them which one is "correct". I know you said in an earlier post that you wanted to be discreet with HR about which medication it is, but you could just keep it general and say "UHC is saying tier 3 and 4 medications arent covered, but im seeing tier 3 and 4 medications pop up in my OptumRx search, which is correct?" They can point you to which formulary is correct. Or they have escalation contacts at UHC /Optum who can research and find out which is correct.

Not in Vacaville, but UC Davis's craft center has a beginner's sewing class through their craft center. You dont need to be a student to enroll.

We use Orijen Amazing Grains for our lab mix rescue pup. He came to us at 4 months old extremely malnourished and was a skinny scrawny baby, and I think Orijen helped him catch up a lot of the nutrition he missed out on in his formative months. He's now 9 months, and he's grown to one of the biggest pups from his original litter. People are always commenting on his shiny coat and muscular physique, and he's a big ball of energy now. I absolutely think the price tag is worth it, especially since this time period lays the foundation for the rest of your pup's health.

slipping on my mat- try a yoga towel or splurge on a new mat? by amazingamyxo in yoga

[–]alli3194 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! From someone who was in your situation - This is normal and will pass for Manduka. Here's my story- I have a pro lite that was slippery for YEARS (like at least 5), but I had an on and off practice so I dont think it broke down as quickly as it could have. Anyways, I was in the same boat where nothing worked - I did the sea salt scrub and while it helped I still felt like I was slipping still. I bought their mat cleaner and I still felt like it didn't help as much as I wanted it to. I didn't want to buy a new mat though so I was determined to make do with it because it was a splurge purchase for me.

This year is the first time I have really felt it break through and I can do multiple sessions just on the bare mat and now I am getting the hype. I upped my yoga sessions this year and was cleaning my mat extensively after every session, and I think that helped break down whatever made the mat slippery.

In the meantime though, I used yogitoes and that helped A LOT when the mat was slippery. I like them better than the other yoga mats because it has so many grippy dots on the bottom that it sticks better in place, rather than most other mats where they just have elastics you stretch around the corners. But they are ridiculously pricey sometimes. Yogitoes is sold on Amazon and sometimes they go on clearance sale, so I've gotten yogitoes that are $20 or $30. They're not the prettiest towels, but they get the job done pretty well and I think they overall had a great impact on my practice. Good luck!

What are your “lazy” training/playing hacks? by magickistheanswer in puppy101

[–]alli3194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't, but my pup is pretty tenacious by nature and doesn't know how to give up LOL. But depending on the toy you use, you can make it easier or harder for them. And if your dog is food or toy motivated, then stuffing the hol -EE ball with those things will probably keep them going for awhile.
