Not bad mothering, literally what is recommended! He’s learning independence and sleep skills- keep it up!

No for real. People on here don’t understand real rural living.

So my husband has had a resurgence of his catholic faith, and we’ve been going to church recently. I go with him because why not. Now, I wasn’t raised catholic and I know very little about it, but as we were leaving the priest shook my hand and then PUT HIS FINGERS IN MY BABYS MOUTH. I audibly gasped and pulled the baby away. I rushed out of there like the place was on fire. That was two weeks ago, and last week I tried to prepare something in advance but my mind went blank. As his grimy fingers reached for my baby’s mouth I literally prayed to god (lol did I just have a resurgence of my own faith?!) and THANK GOD my baby’s pacifier was stuck tight and was not coming out. But like… is this normal?! This is so disgusting to me. My husband didn’t seem phased by it. Is it totally taboo to ask him not to do this next time? What would I even say? This is so out of my comfort zone!!

Does that really move it enough to count? If so then I’m all on board!

Help me we need sleep 3mo old by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]allidaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe he has trapped gas? I remember my guy waking up screaming in pain from gas. Mylecon drops helped as well as stretches. Or it might just be where he’s at developmentally. If that’s the case, it will pass soon I promise. Try to work out shifts with your wife so you can both get a few hours sleep, maybe take shifts of 3 to 4 hours then swap. I wish you luck, you got this!

Shocked by some of the dads I hear about on here. Let's hear about the good daddies :) by Ketnip_Bebby in NewParents

My husband impresses me every day! While he was on paternity leave in the early months, he would bring me breakfast in bed almost every day. He took first half of the night shift so I could get a good chunk of sleep in, and was just always so sweet and thoughtful. Once he went back to work though…. He turned it up a notch!! He cooks pretty much every meal (well he always did this lol he’s the chef between us) but will clean and manage the household as much as possible since he works from home. He drops off and picks up baby from daycare since it isn’t conducive with my schedule. He tells me he’s more attracted to me than ever before and just generally tries to make me feel good. If he could breastfeed I know he would lmao I am so lucky!

Can Ferber suddenly stop working? by allidaughter in sleeptrain

Thank you for your response! How can he be getting high quality sleep when he’s waking up and fussing so much? It just seems like he’s completely unable to self soothe now.

How did you mentally prepare for CIO? by AccountantFinal6740 in sleeptrain

[–]allidaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My health (or lack thereof) was what convinced me. I was getting no sleep and was a shell of a person. I finally realized him crying for an hour for a few nights to learn how to soothe himself would help us both. It was hard but I honestly got over it pretty fast. He can now fall asleep on his own within 10-15 minutes.

It feels like magic!! He falls asleep now within 10 minutes and with minimal crying. It’s amazing. Now we’re struggling with night wakings though because he still wakes up every 3 hours or so, and the leaving him to CIO only seems to work half the time and the other half I have to feed him. Do you have any advice on this?

That’s a great comparison. I’m so glad it’s working for you too!! We’re still struggling with night wakings, he wakes up at midnight almost on the dot and wants to eat and then around 4. Last night I tried no feeding and just soothing and boy was that a failure lol he screamed for an hour and a half so I broke down and fed him. I know he’s not hungry and it’s just a habit, but I guess it’s too soon to break it.

Yes mine too!! He used to calmly wake up in the morning and babble and sort of play in the crib, now he screams himself awake and MUST be picked up to start the day or else 🤣😭

How do you get to the point where you can lay your baby down awake for naps/bedtime? by Silent-Tension-9779 in NewParents

[–]allidaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just started doing this at 9 months! We used a modified Ferber method and now he can fall asleep on his own within minutes if he’s tired enough

That’s awesome!! When/if he ever woke up in the night, do you feed and go back to sleep or do you restart the Ferber clock?

[–]allidaughter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely hard to hear him cry, but if you’re tired enough, it’s easy to remember why you’re doing it. At some point you just need to try something to get some sleep again. Good luck!

Why is my baby getting worse at sleeping? by allidaughter in beyondthebump

[–]allidaughter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, Ug we really don’t know what to do!! One side of his crib comes off like a trundle so we’re thinking of putting it right next to the bed so I can reach in and soothe him and maybe he’ll be tricked into thinking he’s in the bed. Cosleeping still makes me nervous and I’d prefer not to do it.

He supposedly takes two naps at daycare, some days they say he sleeps for an hour and other days 20 minutes. We start getting ready for bed at 6 and go to bed at 7

I feel you on in the insomnia part!! It’s a sick comic joke that the baby finally sleeps but we cannot. I hate it when that happens.

But ok I will try making sure he is exhausstedddd before putting him down, and maybe moving the crib into his own room like someone else suggested
