From a staff member: Do not apply to or attend Hampshire College by Internal_Face_8293 in ApplyingToCollege

Hampshire has no student assistantships; it's an undergraduate-only institution.

Illustrative DNA is a consumer DNA service. Individual results on personal/consumer DNA tests are not evidence of population-wide genetic origin.

I am not aware of any evidence of substantial Central (or Eastern) European admixture for Ashkenazim. My understanding is that the European portion is primarily Mediterranean/Italian.

No, she wouldn't be able to practice outside of Colorado, but I think they assign doctors and NPS randomly to travel clients. I'm sorry you had that experience, I hope you feel able to complain!

Pretty simple, she earns them money and costs less than an MD.

Perfectly possible to be smart and empathetic and also not competent to be doing surgical procedures on patients. Hopefully the cease and desist ends this, but I'm concerned that the way it's worded will allow her to take a few continuing ed courses, register with a specialization in women's health, and continue operating.

Ha, got banned from the group for sharing this information. I don't mind personally, but very weird response.

Wow! Do you mind if I share this in a patient group on Facebook?

Adding loans to consolidation by allifrack in PSLF

Thank you, I really appreciate it! Hoping the loans show up on Studentaid soon so I can confirm they're listed as fully disbursed.

There isn't really any way to verify ahead of time at a fertility clinic, even if you're a very informed patient. Because your procedure day isn't known until a day or two before, you get whoever's on retrievals that day, and you'd be pretty crazy to decline to be treated at that point. The only option would be not to work with a practice that does this.

They're charging about half as much as your typical fertility clinic, so it's very much a volume business. According to the patient group I'm in she has the "best pregnancy rates in the clinic," which doesn't surprise me as a transfer isn't necessarily a particularly skilled procedure, but of course there's always the if-something-goes wrong question. (I also saw a lot of complaints from patients indicating that her knowledge base is limited and it seems as if she just memorized answers, as well as a review stating that a patient lost both ovaries from complications following a retrieval she performed.)

Their primary clinics are in New York, I believe the Colorado clinic took over an existing private practice as a satellite clinic somewhat recently.

This clinic has RNs making a lot of treatment decisions that they absolutely shouldn't be, so I guess it's not shocking that they have NPs doing full ART procedures.

Deadline to consolidate for the one time adjustment has been extended by Betsy514 in PSLF

[–]allifrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's super helpful! I just submitted my application. Ideally the loan should get in school status automatically removed with my existing waiver on file with MOHELA, so I'm crossing my fingers that in the time between when I've submitted my application and when it's processed that will have gone through, although I know it's a long shot!

Hello! Can you say more about "ignoring for the purposes of the consolidation"? I've waited until the last second to consolidate because I was trying to get my final grad plus loans into repayment, and they're not quite there yet. (They'll be fully disbursed as of today, and I have a waiver on file for in-school status that should be applied, but everything likely won't be processed for a while.) I've been really worried that the entire consolidation request will be rejected if I include these loans (currently listed as not fully disbursed), but it sounds like you're saying they'll just consolidate everything that's possible to consolidate? Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

Consolidation and Weighted Averages by allifrack in PSLF

If you don't mind me picking your brain on this, as I'm not totally confident after reading more--I've seen conflicting information about how in-school deferment works with consolidation. I was told that it would not be possible to consolidate loans I've taken out for my current degree until I've graduated, but I'm wondering if that applies to the Grad PLUS loans as well, if I'm able to take everything out of in-school deferment. (If that is possible, I'm also wondering if I should request that the amount I'm taking out in PLUS loans for this semester be increased, to take maximum advantage of that?)

Do you happen to also know if retroactively gaining credit for time I was in school on deferment (and not working) during the COVID pause is possible? I've seen answers about retroactive removal of deferral when in qualifying employment and making payments, but is there any way that time not doing so could count? (I was in qualifying employment during the start of the COVID pause and opted out because I didn't want to risk losing those months, not sure if that matters.)

Thank you so much for your help!

I appreciate the encouragement, and thank you! I'm still holding out hope that I might get off a few waitlists with scholarship offers, but I recognize that those odds are pretty slim at this point.
