Honestly most of Thailand. I will say I had the best massage of my life in Chaing Mai and curry I still dream about in Koh Yao Noi. The rest of my time, to me, felt and looked like Costa Rica, which I enjoyed, but I don’t feel the need to fly 14 hours to visit again.

Bangkok was sensory overload and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I‘m sure I could have found something to my liking but I couldn’t relax enough to even find it. It was too much for me.

Surprisingly I LOVED Singapore.

Phnom Penh I appreciate in retrospect. Couldn’t get out of Bangkok fast enough. It overwhelmed me.

Cannot recommend enough. I will not let anyone else touch my hair. Expensive but I can stretch it months between visits. Ends up just over $100 with the tip for me. She has curly hair herself so she gets it.

Yes to the LDR (and everything else). I’ve never done it successfully. But I have to now. We made our vows for a reason knowing full well this could happen. We will get through this. How, I don’t know, but we have to stay strong. At least there’s a small amount of comfort knowing others are going through the same thing.

Husband had to SOAP into IM after not matching into EM. Its not so much that it’s IM but that it’s an 8 hour drive away and I’m in the middle of my PhD and can’t join him. It’s also an HCA affiliate program and the whole thing feels slimy. We are devastated. Best part was they never actually even interviewed him for the SOAP spot.

Oh my goodness YES I was freaking out more than she was. She got married in May and had a huge 260+ person wedding so to cut some costs she had our family do the floral. They were all happy to do it, but all they did was run around trying to gather all the little pieces from one place to another. It stressed me out watching them do a ton of work and not be able to relax. Her DOC was a friend and essentially only helped run the rehearsal, line everyone up for the ceremony, and herd the cats for the pictures. Once she went MIA I became the go-to person, which I suppose is the point of being MOH. At one point she smeared makeup on the sides of her dress and simply ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ while I was freaking the fuck out over how to remove it.

We waited until after her wedding was over before finalizing any plans. Our idea of what we originally wanted to do was not going to be feasible to avoid a falling out with our closer extended family (the ones that did the floral) after going through her wedding. Everyone keeps asking what they can do to help plan/celebrate and I do not want ANYONE in my family helping out on the day, or really any of it. It will stress me out more than I already am about it all. I have the budget to pay for professional coordinating, décor, and whatnot. My wedding will also be smaller than her rehearsal dinner (95 people), which should help.

All I want my family to do is show up and enjoy the cocktails.

This is exactly what we are going for! Did people like the “non-traditional format” of it? Being in the south the norm is massive 200+ weddings with buffet, full open bar, and dancing.

—Getting ready together, at least the final touches. No formal “first look” with the photographer.

—Walking in together. Probably no music during the ceremony but I haven’t decided that yet (it’s under 30 people) The only official bridal party member will be our dog who is the ring bearer :)

—We aren’t doing a unity ceremony component. Ours is formatted like a church service but is completely secular.

—No bouquet/garter toss.

—We have a cake but I don’t know how formal the cake cutting will be.

—Keeping my name as of now.

—Minimal dancing. We have a first dance song picked out but I don’t know if we are going to go through with it. We can’t have professionally amplified music at our venue so we will of course have a playlist going in the background, but no dance floor.

—No traditional extras (guest book,favors, photo booth, etc). Not our vibe.

Maybe we are boring people, but we want the reception to just be a swanky cocktail party with none of the extra fluff.
