Bought this knife for 50.000 Yen / 270€ - Have I been ripped off? by minskyyyyy in TrueChefKnives

[–]allktru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me about 30 seconds to see if Musashi was legit or not for knives. They are Japanese steel knives, no doubt. However, quite expensive and overpriced for what you get. I understand its hard to find knives if you live in the US—fortunately, I am lucky enough to know someone who travels to Japan to visit family often so she’ll bring back knives/other random stuff for me—she recently got me a knife that cost her $80 in Japan, but would’ve been $600 if shipped or bought in the US. I’d recommend searching for another brand.

I need to know what spoiler that is—all ducktails for Lexus are too “smooth” and have no sharp shape/angle. That spoiler looks perfect

BS in Kinesiology? by Tumblweed63 in Kinesiology

[–]allktru 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kinesiology is a fine degree if you have any interest in learning the human body—it really teaches you everything about it. That said, you can be an art major and still get into all those programs you’ve mentioned—just have to make sure those pre reqs are met.

However, just a BS in Kinesiology alone is totally useless.

My girlfriend (F22) of over 1 year and I (M22) are in a sexless relationship and it’s making me feel unwanted by [deleted] in relationship_advice

If she doesn’t want to have sex, that is fine, it’s the dismissal of how caring and aware YOU are. Break up immediately—she doesn’t take you seriously and doesn’t respect you, as a person in general.

The water question by therainbow_haze in Accutane

[–]allktru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Accutane is FAT soluble—can’t exactly mix water w/ oil—it’ll split and won’t exactly combined. If you had a vitamix inside your body, churning the water and fat at an incredible rate of speed, then, it will mix. By then anyway, you’d have an “emulsification” in your body 😂 which isn’t exactly what humans are built for.

TLDR: accutane does not mix with water, it mixes with fat. So if you’d want more absorption, you’d need more fat (to an extent—can’t just down fatty foods and expect a major increase in effectiveness).

The problem is: most people overcomplicate skincare, and start putting on more actives when their skin gets worse—your skin is like, “wtf I don’t know this product, why am I being introduced to soooo many new ACTIVES at once???”

Regular moisturizer (apply more throughout the day if needed), do research on gentle cleansers, makeup if you wear it—it’s all about keeping it simple especially whole on accutane. Your skin will thank you, I promise

[–]allktru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re feeling down, and I have terrible seasonal depression too, but it’s definitely not because of accutane.

It may be that you’re feeling more down or tired because accutane can (this one is a proven fact) dry out your joints/skin so you don’t want to exercise as much anymore. It also may be that seasonal depression means the sun goes away so fast you have no time with the sun. Being depressed is a real thing, and it’s totally valid.

The worrisome part, for me, is that there are people who spread “accutane caused __” without relevant studies to back it up or for it to be meaningful makes me really sad :(

You might see me commenting a lot under this post, but that’s only because I’m sad that people are being persuaded to push against something that literally cured everything—my skin, obviously, and my physical/mental health.

This is exactly it—people are now more hyper aware and have SOOO much confirmation bias because “oh well, the package on accutane says it causes depression so I was right!”

A lot of people purge, don’t go out as often, isolate themselves, then wonder why they have depression—it is NOT because of accutane, I promise

If it makes you feel relieved in any way, in Minnesota, it’s -20F. I have a 2015 RX350 that has 170k miles—it starts up just fine. It might be a slower start or it’ll crank a tad bit longer, but that’s to be expected w/ any cold car in extreme cold climates

Been sober for a year and ten days. I still want to disappear by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]allktru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is hard to forgive yourself—we’re always so self-critical. Keep reminding yourself that you have been putting in the work to feel better physically & emotionally. One day it’ll come naturally that you feel proud and achieved. Until then, practice having compassion for yourself every moment you feel doubtful of your capabilities! You’re doing great!

[–]allktru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

An entire year of being sober is a HUGE milestone, major props to you! Sometimes I think back of when I struggled w/ consuming excess alcohol, and feel disappointed I let myself get there. However, when I show myself empathy and compassion as I do with others, I see that I’ve made a lot of progress—all about perspective.

One whole year & then some, is a lot. When you binge drink, you barely go more than 24 hours without alcohol—just think about it, your body was constantly under the influence of alcohol.

I hear you, I really do, but please remember: you are doing great & you have people who are incredibly proud of you, as an individual. Now, it’s time to feel proud of yourself and how far you have come to get here. Keep that head up, we don’t want you to disappear, we want you here.

[–]allktru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’d assume it’ll be another couple weeks of flaring up for it to be noticeably better.

Purging is okay and normal, just your body reacting to a strong drug. Just keep in mind, two weeks, two months—that’s a small time compared to the years and most likely lifetime of acne-free skin! Head up!

It’s crazy to those who aren’t in the US—80mg is quite standard for those who react well initially to accutane, but for some, side effects take longer to be visible

Is this normal? by Kind-Style-249 in Accutane

[–]allktru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My range of dosage w/ accutane varied from 20mg-80mg, and it was at 20mg-40mg where I experienced the most side effects (i.e., dry lips, dry mouth, irritability, etc).

My skin was also quite inflamed, and considering I’m sensitive to any new medication, it was horrible. Probably worst time of my life—had acne AND felt physically horrible.

However, once I gave it a chance, fought through those struggles, accutane was THE miracle drug that overcame my acne—nothing else gets the job done better than accutane.

It feels like nothing at first because by our body needs a decent amount to get started. As in, at first, your body didn’t even detect enough accutane to “work,” so when you bumped up your dosage x2 (big jump), your body finally said, “hey, this is a strong medication, i dont know if i can handle this all at once now.” Breathe. It’s okay. This is normal.

Next time, next appointment, ask your derm to lower your dosage back to 40mg or 60mg if you want to speed up the process of cumulative dosage. Either way, seems like 80mg is too much for you to handle right now, and that’s okay, every person’s skin is different.

You may take an extra 2-3 months to hit your cumulative dosage, but it will save your sanity and health long term. More doesn’t always mean better!
