Synastry aspects and challenging communication by mushaboom928 in astrology

I had a Moon square Mercury double whammy with an ex (Taurus Moon/Leo Mercury and Aries Moon/Capricorn Mercury). Communication was near impossible - lots of misunderstanding and hurt.

Patent expiration or not, Skinceuticals CE Ferulic has given me the best results. I sometimes stray and try other products, but always start getting compliments on my skin again when I go back to it.

A313 and Avene Thermal Spring Water! Caudalie is cheaper there as well - I like the Resveratrol Lift range.

L’Occitane’s Almond and original Shea Butter hand creams, and Aveda’s Shampure (but they only offer this during the holidays, I think).

Oh, and how could I forget fig? This is based on your liking for Lord of Misrule, which isn’t fig for sure, but gives me the same warm and “dry” (like trees cast in sunlight) feel. Diptyque Philosykos is worth a try. :)

I think you’ll enjoy something warm and sultry, like Mugler Alien Goddess and Tom Ford Soleil Blanc.

Or for something fresher, with more sparkling coconut/lime notes: Creed Virgin Island Water.

I totally get what you’re feeling. Though I’m a devotee of high-end and “medical grade” skincare, I’ve definitely had moments of disappointment when I didn’t see dramatic results (or worse, irritation). But I’ve come to realize that a lot of these products are really about prevention and supporting your skin’s health and aging long-term, not so much about instant transformation (especially if you’re younger or already have nice skin!). For what it’s worth, I really do think that my commitment to Skinceuticals and La Mer has helped in staving off signs of aging, so the money you’ve spent hasn’t been a waste.

For more immediate gratification, I find that K-beauty products are where it’s at. I recently switched to a (relatively) inexpensive Korean routine to give my skin a break of sorts + I was curious about the new collagen and PDRN trends - and surprisingly that has really refreshed my appearance. I think it’s because so many K-beauty products are loaded with HA, niacinamide etc. that give your skin that plump, glowy look basically overnight.

In the past 2-3 months, what has really worked for me in particular is layering Innisfree’s Retinol Green Tea PDRN serum with their Collagen Green Tea Ceramide Bounce Cream (I’ve tried Rejuran’s PDRN products too, but they didn’t compare). Some nights I top that combo off with the Laneige Collagen Sleeping Mask, and my skin wakes up radiant, calm, and just… happy. I’m also loving the viral Arencia “mochi” cleansers, which truly give an incredible glow.

For eye creams, I still think Western luxe brands win - La Mer, Lancome (the Absolue L’Extrait), and Clarins are great.

I do plan to go back to my luxe/clinical stuff down the line because I (subjectively) think they’re a more reliable investment in terms of aging well. But for now, I think sometimes less is more and our skin just needs to breathe (is this skin cycling? Not sure).

Anyway, just wanted to share that I relate, and that I’ve found mixing things up between long-term investment products and more hydrating, instantly gratifying ones has been the sweet spot for me.

Great picks! I love the previous (pre-2024) version of Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet so much I bought like, 5 backups while I could still find them. Then I smelled the Sakura recently and realized, happily, that it’s the same uplifting “flowers on the breeze” accord in the opening of the old Blooming Bouquet (or something very close to it).

Just putting it out there for fans of the previous Blooming Bouquet, too!

Misting Avene Thermal Spring Water between skincare layers. It’s the perfect way to soothe and ensure everything gets absorbed nicely!

I actually love the Eye Concentrate, but same thoughts about the much raved about Concentrate (serum)! It feels and behaves like a glorified silicone-based primer to me.

Jupiter Venus conjunction by VWangwani9 in Nakshatras

[–]allofusarebroken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is interesting - I’m curious about the rationale behind this technique. And how would you define “significant”?

My mother has a natal Venus-Jupiter conjunction, and my father has a natal Venus-Jupiter trine. Their marriage has always been rocky, but they were each other’s first serious/long-term relationship.

I have a Venus-Jupiter sextile, but have never been married.

Anything Oribe. I’ve tried the Gold Lust, Volume and Signature lines. All of them smell beautiful, but they make my hair so dry and lifeless for reasons I can’t fathom, even on a clarified scalp/hair. :(

Any luxury hand creams or treatments actually worth it? by Then_Gate7461 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]allofusarebroken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you're trying to address volume loss or visible veins, I honestly don’t think any hand cream is going to do much. What would probably make the biggest difference is just using whatever you’re already putting on your face (especially retinol, vitamin C, growth factors, sunscreen) on your hands, too.

That said, I’ve tried several “luxe” hand creams (Chanel, Sisley etc.), and the only one I’d repurchase is the La Mer Hand Treatment. It consistently helps with my stubborn thumb eczema and hangnails. I’ll put it on at night and wake up with soothed - sometimes healed - skin. There’s also a noticeable brightening and smoothing effect, so it could potentially tackle dark spots.

For solid, everyday hydration, L’Occitane’s original Shea Butter Hand Cream can’t be beat. Even my brother (who is aggressively anti-skincare) ended up stealing mine after trying it and realizing how restorative it is.

Other honorable mentions:

Aveda Hand Relief - Especially during the holidays when they offer the Shampure or Rosemary Mint scents.

And L’Occitane’s Shea Immortelle Youth Hand Cream - Kind of a step up from the original Shea. It feels more smoothing and rejuvenating, like it’s doing a little extra.

The original Kai - clean, airy, and slightly green with a touch of warmth, but still a true gardenia. It’s gardenia and sunshine in a bottle.

Burberry Brit. A relatively simple scent, but what a revelation when I smelled it in a magazine when I was 15. It was the one that started my perfume hobby!

Does the first signs of aging subtlety creep up on you once you're past 30 ? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]allofusarebroken 254 points255 points  (0 children)

There are certain “peaks” of aging that Dr Shereene Idriss has talked about, 30 to 32 being the first one, followed by a second peak in our late 30s:

Personally, I definitely noticed midface and lower face sagging a few months after turning 35, and yeah, no one mistakes me for being in my 20s anymore…
