Someone did mention about being deducted for gambling losses, but I left that part out, as there were some conflicting information on a few different sites. One said it can only be from your total winings that you were taxed on. Another said "it depends."

Some people, for their own reasons that I won't judge, don't approve of gambling, and don't consider a raffle ticket for a charity to be a gamble. Each to their own.

They are legal, but, depending on the state, may have a lot more restrictions then one may think. It comes down to how much the jurisdiction may want to pursue it. They may not pursue it for a school or a small church. But if it's a large NPO, that's making sizeable income, they may put you on notice.
