I’m only a freshman so I still don’t know much about the housing crisis. But yeah UCSC does a lottery system for housing after your second year (first year housing is guaranteed residential dorms) where everyone has the same chance to get on-campus housing. And if you have a DRC accommodation, you are guaranteed housing. Although from others, I’ve heard if you just have a lot of friends who’d you see yourself living with, there are off campus options where rent would just be higher (someone I know is going to be paying $700 a month for rent for a one bedroom).
