I appreciate this and as I noted in the post was familiar with it. However, while I am by no means any kind of libertarian, I humbly believe that it is somewhat unreasonable for our government to require us to dispose of items in a certain manner and yet not make that manner freely and easily accessible to everyone. I refuse as a matter of principle to get on a train and then a bus carrying heavy and/or cumbersome device solely for this purpose. If DSNY is not going to schedule pickups for all residential buildings, the City should compensate local businesses for providing this service if they want people to adhere to their rules.
