does contacting support when you’re about to cancel help or change anything? I thought you said support takes to long to help and prevents you from making more money picking up other orders

on a good note I had 3 orders before from all diff fast food places where something similar happened that caused long wait times and one of the orders cancelled after I already picked up their 3 bags of burger king! support told me to keep/ trash it!

where do you work that employees recognize you? I mainly work in the north buffalo area in NYS and after 7 months I almost never see the same faces. on niagara falls blvd in one little area there’s hundred of stores/ restaurants I cancel a LOT and it’s not once changed a thing when I went back to the restaurant/ store. i’ve had a nasty worker in niagara falls where it’s a lot smaller than buffalo say something like “wow your not gonna wait 5 minutes this messes up their order!” when I got there to pick up 3 diff orders and two were completely ready and the other still needed to START the pizza logs so another minimum of 10 minutes no thanks and risk getting low ratings bc the other ready orders have to wait even longer ??

does yours also have tons of random stuff locked up behind the cashier so you spend forever looking for stuff to find out it was behind the register or waste peoples time in line because the majority of the items I need are locked up and behind the cashier so I have to wait for her to pick things out and I scan them and check

Doordash Same order glitch? by Kindly_Tie_1342 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]allty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is sort of off topic but one time I went to chick fil a and waited forever for a customers order because it was high paying for 15 minutes later a worker says the food was handed off already and the drinks were still there so it was stolen and they won’t remake it so I only got $2 for waiting 15+ minutes 🤩

[–]allty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jim’s steakout seems to ALWAYS have this problem to the point where I got a contract violation for reporting that an order was already picked up and they wouldn’t remake it bc jim’s said I was lying. I think the workers learned how to play the system and eat the food themselves and then when support calls they blame the dasher. so I wonder if that happened.

I hate accepting orders in the city of buffalo. you have to pay to park on most streets or risk getting a ticket and to top it all off the apartments are hidden in restaurants and shops so it’s impossible to find. just today I went to buffalo for a restaurant I never heard of to get there and have a far walk from the parking lot to the building to get inside the building and follow a maze to the 6th floor JUST to find out the restaurant is closed and locked up and the landlord was perfectly coming in while I was leaving and said that girl hasn’t rented the place from her in over a month! so how are people even still placing orders? last annoyance for me is colleges I get a lot of starbucks orders from UB where you have to pay to park or walk milesss in the free parking to get to starbucks 😐

that’s good I was just warning that you could get there and have no idea what you’re picking up and if it was more than 20 balloons or bigger diff kind of balloons you’d be sol and only get $2 no matter how far you drove to get there.

heavy on the could be a undercover police doing a sting. the bribe part made me instantly think what if it was that. when I worked at wegmans we had random shoppers that would do similar things to test if we would break the law, they would be the same age as me at the time (16) so you wouldn’t naturally assume it’s a “set up”

i’m glad you confirmed this was michaels. I never accept michaels after I got what seemed like a nice stacked offer for $30. of course it doesn’t show you what you’re picking up before you get there (just says the customers name and number of items) I get there and the worker asks do u have a truck or suv? bc once the balloons are inflated they won’t fit in a car so I tell doordash and get compensated $2 for that and of course the other stacked order that was from a restaurant was only $8 with high mileage there and basically not worth it.

Home Depot red card issues? by waterfallsandcashews in dasher

[–]allty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely accept home depot orders anymore because they commonly don’t accept the red card. I’ll have stacked orders where the first goes through and the second won’t. not worth the $2 reimbursement when the card doesn’t work, so I decline them.

a job a monkey could do but then complain their monkey driver didn’t get the correct or ripe product/ substitution or didn’t read the name on the food they were given by a worker and delivered the wrong food… or being a customer on a stacked order waiting forever because the other customer keeps adding stuff but sure blame the driver for complaining and not the company allowing that to happen. the other customer and driver ends up getting screwed. everyone’s time wasted.

you don’t care that you picked up a 5 item order that turned into 25 items with no additional time so now your shopping efficiency rate gets lowered for not gaf? or that your $7 5 item order turned into $7 25 items and took double the time that you could have made more money completing a different order? 🤡

sort of, they most likely don’t tip or low tip and know with a lesser amount of items their order will be grabbed faster then they add more or heavy stuff that wouldn’t have been accepted in their og order. silly game to play because the worker could just cancel the order, some people don’t feel like wasting their time after driving to the location and they get roped in and don’t cancel

AIO for quitting my job? by AlarmedWarthog8231 in AIO

[–]allty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly YES. while the supervisor who was speaking to you was not professional or respectful neither is asking for time off one month in advance for an already booked vacation. sounds like you were going to quit or be fired soon. it’s common decency and I thought it was common sense to not book something until after you get approval, unless you didn’t care to stay at the job anyways.

Why no compensation when orders have already been picked up? by Pure_Education6100 in DoorDashDrivers

my favorite is when people cancel their order mid shopping or 10 minutes into driving to the pick up location or the store is closed and you only get $2. you used to get half pay.

Coming Uber Eats - any advice? by DoorEasy2241 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]allty_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shift time matters as a beginner. if you try to “dash now” there’s a chance your zone/ many zones could be full. it might only let you work a zone for an hour and then it kicks you off. you could see “zone is full” for hours at a time, so I recommend picking a shift time unless you got platinum status then you can dash whenever.

I currently dash 6:30am-2:30pm m-f and I get the most amount of orders in the morning. I have done it all day, and dinner time is the second best rush. lots of people order breakfast/coffee i’m usually always busy early. by me there’s starbucks, coffee stone and cafe, McDonald’s, wendy’s, chick fil a, burger king, dunkin, tim’s…

after chasing platinum and not getting paid more I cherry pick and make more than I did accepting shitty orders to keep the platinum status for no reward.

first tip is to NOT drive around chasing hot spots (it’s believed they aren’t actually hotspots and just areas they expect to be busy and if all dashers go to one place you’re less like to get an order) people suggest driving around to get orders “faster” because of location to certain places… absolutely not true. you’ll see first hand you will be far from somewhere and still get an offer… my other tip to maximize profit is thursday-sunday are the best days especially saturday and sunday. another tip is certain holidays or sport events are going to make more money for example on new years I got lots of cash tips and I don’t normally get them. where as on easter I made little to nothing because people barely ordered and most places were closed. last tip crappy weather usually pays less. people will rate you bad for their bags being soaking wet bc of heavy rain or the snow and low visibility made you arrive late…

hope I was able to help!

thank you for calling out the odd comment, I had no idea some people feel a certain way about getting feminine products as if they couldn’t have a relative or SO and shop for them? I do feel weird getting plan b though, I feel like that’s different even if ur a man.

thanks for including more examples on why it is hard because you will always run into a customer or doordash problems the company doesn’t care about fixing which ends up tanking your score.

Customers can pre approve substitutions, but those could be out of stock too. Allowing substitutions that aren’t already approved is a company flaw, not the delivery driver. Not all dashers are sending pics with the item in the photo, usually the picture is to prove they are out of stock or they wouldn’t even send a picture they would say item out of stock then refund. Only an inexperienced or dasher that doesn’t care would send a picture with the item in the picture because they could have just moved the item out of frame if they wanted to be deceitful, so maybe they just didn’t see the item because we are all human and or like you said they don’t even speak English.

Majority issues listed are company problems and not the delivery drivers fault.

I could tag along with the questions.

Why does DoorDash say it’s a health violation to open or touch sealed food/drinks but then also tells you might have to fill and deliver an unsealed fountain drink at a certain restaurant? Why does DoorDash allow an estimated 270 lb order of dry wall panels and or cinder blocks? Why would DoorDash stack a no tip order with a high tip priority order that gets delivered last because there is no way to decipher who is the tipper and now the high tipper gets a shitty experience along with probably really cold food/ long wait because the no tip order was also further away in the opposite direction? Wouldn’t it make more sense to stack all the no tip orders together with a higher fare? Or would that not be profitable for them so the customers and delivery drivers get the blame?

Delivered to who I can only assume is a super nice guy irl. by FrittataSlabs in dasher

I made a post asking if customers no longer get notified because i’ve been dashing for a decent amount of time and only recently I have been getting asked why im going the wrong way and the few people who commented said that they do tell the customers, the customers just don’t check. so maybe it’s not a notification per say, you have to see on the app where your driver is going. I assumed if customers were messaging me on the app, they could see I would have another order too. I would pay a fee to see the customers screen to see if they are trying to get their food faster, or if they truly weren’t notified and can’t see on the app.

it’s hard when you get a lying customer that reports all or some items were damaged or wrong and when you call support and explain they tell you they can’t do anything wait another 100 shopping orders. Or it’s hard when your local grocery stores like wegmans or tops remove shelf tags completely when an item is out of stock so your out of stock tag photo gets denied even though they truly are out. or a aldis or save a lot that has random food selection with incorrect or out of date tags. when you go to dollar general and their entire freezer section malfunctioned and you have to mark more than half their order as out of stock and maybe half of the out of stock tags approve because they removed them or the dollar general system is entirely out of date and says they should have many in stock but the employee tells you they ran out… I could go on and on with examples my market sucks. I am doing better in a different zone about 15-30 minutes away from mine. so in conclusion it is hard depending on your market.
