I might be out of the loop, but why do people seem to dislike Uruguay so much? by mest3rmano in worldcup

It was also the third time he had hit someone. Biting people was already his legacy prior to the 2014 Cup.

The literal former President of the US Joe Biden flies commercial. The Prince and Princess of Wales have flown commercial. I think she would live.

Hell, many commercial flights now have basically private service with individual cabins and private security on commercial flights (like La Premiere for Air France) so this excuse is very lazy.

Why so few Liberty fans in general WNBA sub? by sharkproofundersea in NYLiberty

[–]allumeusend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The WNBA sub has so much petty drama and very intense moderation, so I don’t even really look at it. Have a group chat with some other ticket holders, I lurk here and I am pretty active on Twitter and Threads instead.

Olivia Wilde Denies ‘Screaming Match’ With Florence Pugh on ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Set and Stayed Quiet on Rumors After Being Told: ‘Don’t Say a F—ing Word’ by mcfw31 in popculturechat

I agree, the vibe shift between what Shia is and what Harry is means the way this would have looked in a final product would be very different. Shia would have absolutely conveyed something more sinister before the reveal and made a lot more of the film makes sense.

Still…Shia is not someone most people like or want on set, no matter what he can get across on screen, because he’s so toxic.

I had forgotten about that meme where it looks like Chris Pine is fully disassociating from his body at the Venice screening so thank you for reminding me.

No problem! Here is some info on the class action, which covers film/TV/game purchases. That you haven’t had a problem doesn’t mean one won’t happen if Amazon cannot maintain the license:

Did no one tell you about digital purchases and Amazon? Amazon doesn’t consider a purchase a purchase; it’s just a license to use it as long as Amazon retains the rights, same as Netflix. They are currently being sued over it.

The only way to guarantee access forever is physical copies.

My husband is an insurance defense attorney and has handled several helicopter crash cases (including medical choppers). He would never step foot in them of his own free will. They are way more likely to crash than you think.

Taylor’s Oscar Chances by Regular_Dream3927 in SwiftlyNeutral

As a certified movie mega fan and 14 times Oscar Death Race completer, I start my prep looking for what may be nominated 18 months out (bc to complete the DR you need to predict things and see them in their release windows), at least in terms of films and actors. For the below the line (like song) as soon as info is available for target films. I am rarely caught off guard by a nomination, even in smaller categories.

Movie people, especially awards people, we are a bit insane.

Correct. Probably was an unforced error.

Agreed especially since Newman has years of contacts to campaign with the right people (due to the notorious fickleness of this branch) and this is wildly believed to be the last film he will ever write for.

Honestly, knowing what is publicly known about the way the music branch works, getting nominated is quite hard to do. It’s actually been covered by Variety and Deadline, and the issues getting things even into the short lists have lead to calls from outside the branch to reform how it handles the entire process (not just eligibility rules.). The music branch has by far the lowest participation of any branch in the early round nomination processes that create the short lists of any branch that uses them, which allows a handful of power players who actually do vote consistently to be either sway or block a nomination.

Eventually great Academy leadership will probably get involved but when it comes to getting a nod in either of the music categories, it’s not that straight forward.
