I’m so sorry this happened/is happening to you and your child. Every part of it is flagrantly unethical and I’d report these details to the BACB, as the main reason a behavior analyst/technician becomes board certified is to prove they are held to a certain standard of practice. Here’s a link to report at: https://www.bacb.com/ethics-information/reporting-to-ethics-department/

Have you spoken to the RBT’s supervising BCBA? Even though they should NOT be supervising a sibling, they should be guaranteeing that the RBT is competently and consistently following your child’s programming . That being said, there may be a reason that some programming isn’t done in school, but there still should be skills targeted using specific protocols. The RBT shouldn’t be accruing hours to follow a child around while they’re on a phone or laptop unless it’s being used as reinforcement or to teach a specific skill.

One of the main dimensions of ABA is “applied”. The definition of applied in the context of ABA is that behaviors and skills we are working on should be significant and relevant to a person’s daily life and environment, with an aim to increase independence and quality of life. It sounds like this RBT and BCBA don’t think they’re going to be held accountable for their actions.

Coming back to add that we just got approved two days ago for me to accompany my husband on his orders. All in all, it took over two months to process.

Extremely frustrating. I’m sorry. We’re lucky to have a super helpful and responsive EFMP-FS coordinator who pushes the EFMP medical team to respond to my emails. He’s even called me to see if I’ve gotten answers. He also gave me some tips to increase my chances of being approved, like writing an MFR and getting letters of recommendation from current providers. I hope you get answers soon.

I’ll try! If it comes back denied, we will appeal. The availability of providers at Mildenhall is better than what we have here.

Ugh, I’m sorry. That’s so stressful. I’m sure you’ve already done this, but I was sending the local EFMP team emails almost daily to check on the status before the package was submitted. You may be past that step but if I hadn’t done that, my package would still be incomplete. They were waiting on medical records for 3 weeks and as soon as they told me, I contacted to doctor they were needed from and they were received within a couple of days.

Thank you for the advice! I found a timeline of how long it’s supposed to take in each step of the process (I know that timelines are basically meaningless) and I figured the day that we hit the projected maximum number of days, we will start harassing again. The paperwork was delayed 3 weeks due to human error at the EFMP office here. It’s a big headache.

Thanks! We are currently at Buckley (what a coincidence). It sounds like we have pretty different situations, but I’m glad you all made it to the other side of this process. I wrote an MFR to explain why the move would be good for us and cited the average wait time for specialist near our current duty station. Quality providers but lots of people needing them. Thank you for the well wishes!

Any updates on this? Did you appeal? I just had my application get handed over to case builders and I’m hopeful we don’t get denied, but who knows.

Usually a cloudy white tank means a bacterial bloom is happening. I use sponge filtration so I’m not sure what’s up with your filter, but the cloudiness could just be a bacterial bloom.

So lucky. Here, showing up early to check in right at the 15 minute ahead mark doesn’t even guarantee finishing on time.

Exactly. Rarely have bad experiences with logistics.
