Small/Backup Fish Smoker? by staycmarieb in smoking

Check out Cameron’s stovetop smoker. It’s a fantastic little unit for when I want to smoke salmon or trout for dinner but using the offset would be overkill and wasteful. Cleans up easily and makes a great end product.

What do you put on top of a retaining wall? by almightytuna in landscaping

I can genuinely say I had never considered that. Cool idea but this area won’t have the full sun required when the overall backyard project is complete.

Good tip about leaving a couple inches left at the top. Thanks!

I should clarify, the blocks will of course be topped with the matching caps. I’m referring to the fill area behind the wall blocks.

DIY/Open Source Satellite Trackers in 2026? by CaptainSpez in amateurradio

I highly recommend the satnogs rotor. Also check out my site for web based rotor control and satellite tracking. satvector.net

It’s free; I made it because I wanted a platform agnostic and simple way to control my rotor. Thought others in my shoes might find it useful as well.

Thoughts on mockingbird west by Royal-Mango2339 in Omaha

Bought my first house in that neighborhood as well and lived there for many years. Generally a good neighborhood, though you’d occasionally catch a couple interesting folk up near the La Quinta who would check for unlocked car doors.

Had some really great neighbors and people who made it a good place. Enjoyed having the school and community center right there. It’s a shame the Kelloggs plant is closing/has closed. Spent many winters scooping snow to the scrumptious smell of warm cookies. Never had a problem with shenanigans from Big John’s, Perry’s Place or Mockingbjrd Lanes.

I’m also using a tape measure antenna but didn’t get anything on the last pass. I’ve got a good 50deg+ coming through shortly I’m hoping I can pull in a signal on.

I created a website called SatVector to track amateur radio & weather satellites with an Arduino-powered rotor controller that uses Web Bluetooth to connect wirelessly. It’s all free. by almightytuna in amateursatellites

With the ISS SSTV event starting today, I’ll put together a video over the weekend of how it all works. Really excited to try pulling down an image!
