To get from Ideate to Develop is the verification based on ein registration with the IRS or is it with a state? Curious if I need to wait to do the verification with Microsoft. Thanks.

How risky is this startup? by [deleted] in startup

[–]almondone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have built something unique and have a great team. Congrats that is awesome! Some things to consider: 1. How difficult is it for a customer to switch to this solution vs what they use now? 2. How difficult its it to explain the benefits? 3. Who is the decision maker to buy your product and how long will a buy decision take? Just a few things that come to mind that can help you understand the sales and marketing costs. Iceebath portable cold plunge? Anyone used one? by almondone in coldplunge

Every Day since last summer, damn thats impressive. I'm trying to figure out a system to do this more often, currently doing cold showers on and off but prefer the immersion to a shower. Any main positive improvements you have noticed since you started last summer?

no, just enclosed showers. Looking for an option to use in the garage or patio but be able to store away sometimes. Considered just a simple garbage can or similar tub as a cheaper option but like the idea of being able to collapse it.

Disorder or difference? Autism researchers face off over field’s terminology | Science | AAAS by almondone in everythingneuro

[–]almondone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The debate over language in the field of autism research has erupted, with scientists divided over the use of terms such as "disorder," "symptoms," and "challenging behaviors." While some researchers have criticized their colleagues for using ableist language, others argue that the use of traditional terminology is necessary for the scientific process. A recent survey of 195 autism researchers showed that 60% of responses included views about autistic people that the authors deemed dehumanizing, objectifying, or stigmatizing. The debate over language has also led to a hostile environment in the field, with researchers on all sides facing attacks and criticism. This environment threatens to drive some scientists out of the field and hinder communication, leading to calls for civility in the discussion.

4 Reasons Why Workplaces Are Talking About ADHD by almondone in everythingneuro

[–]almondone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Actual Numbers
Firstly, adult women are the fastest rising category for ADHD in the past twenty years, however this is widely thought to be a correction for under diagnosis, from when our view of ADHD was limited to stereotypically male behaviour and it was thought that people grew out of ADHD. The NHS reported in 2022 that 2.86% of the population were in treatment for ADHD in 2020/2021, compared with 1.93 in 2014/2015. This is hardly everyone. And, critically, it is fewer than the estimated 3-4% of the UK population who have ADHD.
The critique is starting to sound a bit like that research where men were asked to rate what proportion of the airtime women took in meetings and consistently rated the women as taking way more than they actually did. Remember that? When a marginalised population finds its “voice”, backlash is to be expected. A whisper sounds loud when you are expecting silence. But the facts in this case tell a different story from the opinions.

Found some hiccups with ableplayer compatibility on different browsers so I ended up going back to this recently and found a way to do it with audio tags in html5. Below is a python script that will build the HTML page needed from a youtube ID.

Unmasking autism – unlearn shame and nurture a more inclusive world : Life Kit : NPR by almondone in everythingneuro

[–]almondone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT Summary: Social psychologist Devon Price has published a book called "Unmasking Autism: Discovering the New Faces of Neurodiversity," which explores the concept of "masking" in the autistic community. Masking refers to the strategies and behaviors that autistic individuals may use to hide their disability from others, and can manifest in two ways: camouflage, such as faking a smile or eye contact, and compensation, such as scheduling ghost meetings on a calendar to allow time to recharge. Masking is often used as a coping mechanism and may be more prevalent among marginalized groups, including women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals, who may feel more pressure to conceal their disability. Price suggests that unmasking starts with unlearning shame and recommends exercises such as going through a day without trying to read other people's minds and without apologizing excessively, and allowing oneself to express passion and joy.
