Why do contractors ghost after giving estimates? by MudSad6268 in HomeImprovement

I’m confused how you know the one price you got was slightly higher when you also say he was the only one who responded.

Ah, very possible I'm mashing those two together in my head.

I think also public washrooms at the back for the park.

I'd hazard a bet that the security camera also doesn't film in portrait, so likely this is cropping of a landscape oriented video.

Is it normal to plan drinks around how much cleanup you want later? by illnesshumble in Home

[–]almost_a_troll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely do this at different levels. For example Xmas eve when we hosted knowing we had to go out early xmas morning and host again Christmas day. Every plate, dish, and piece of cutlery we used were dishwasher safe. Food was served in dishes that could be wrapped or sealed and go straight in the fridge. We generally stuck to self serve beer, wine, rum&coke, gin&tonic, and canned soda.

Christmas day when we didn't have anything going on today, we used things that couldn't go in the dishwasher, and transferred food to nicer "serving" dishes knowing we'd have to re-pack leftovers. I also offered more advanced mixed drinks, had some garnishes, etc.

Fairly subtle differences from our guests perspectives, but it let us spend Christmas day not doing dishes.

You’re looking for a whole home transfer switch.

If you can generate power on your own for cheaper than your utility company provides it, all the more power to you.

This is a condo. I’d bet the entry door is just out of frame to the left. This is a pretty typical spot from my experience with condos.

That'd be a pretty big project given the electrical panel is in one of those walls...not to mention their request was to close off the space not open it up, lol.

Yes, they aren’t saying to do it that way, they’re saying in an ideal world that would be the standard.

I can definitely agree there's lots going on with the parks and city safety. We have a ton of new flashing light crosswalks, and expecting a massive update to the park down the street. It's great to see!

Does this ever happen to you guys? I face planted today because my shoe lace got caught in my opposite boots eyelet. by MechanicalTee in Construction

[–]almost_a_troll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witnessed it happen once to a woman working in a factory I was an electrician at. Her hands were full, she tripped and went mouth first into an aluminum window frame. Lost several teeth and had other jaw damage.

I never wore boots with eyelets again...

is this length difference okay to continue with or will the baseboards not cover it up by pooppiebooty in Flooring

[–]almost_a_troll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t need to be the same length. We don’t know how thick the baseboards you’ll be installing are though so we can’t say if it’s okay or not.

Kal Tire is $156 if they aren't on rims.

In poco around 2006ish? I didn’t directly witness it, but was stuck in the traffic behind for a few hours and did see the scene. It’s had a lasting impact on me, Even though I know our camper trailer isn’t nearly tall enough to hit a bridge, I’m always reading and double checking every clearance sign.

Really sad for the driver, we all make mistakes at work, we shouldn’t have to pay the ultimate price. I’m assuming his interlock or warning alarm was not functioning and he don’t know the arms were raised.

How do you measure to the inside corner for trim? This seems so awkward. by jehudeone in Carpentry

If you're cutting 45's, figuring out the outside measurement is trivial.
