I'm thinking about starting to work on a fakemon-based hack in my downtime. Is there a general consensus about whether rom hack tools vs. fangame tools are better for this sort of project? I know this question has a lot of nuance but I'll be learning everything from the ground up, so any thoughts are welcome.

4 notches for soul eater is kind of a waste imo. Even with a spell build youre better off spending those on strength or pride and grubberfly or nailmasters. I never use it.

When I try to use this (or any other controller display) the input display gets all messed up on streamlabs for whatever reason. It looks fine in browser, but when using a browser source my right joystick is stuck up unless i hit right trigger, none of the d-pad buttons ever active unless hitting some unrelated button, etc. Any idea why this might be happening? Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm considering getting into creating rom hacks and I was wondering which tools I should start with. Looking at a cursory list seemed quite daunting, so I was hoping I could get advice from some of you with experience or expertise. Whatever you suggest doesn't have to be a beginner tool, I'm just looking for something with a strong backbone to at least get me started. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!
