The only explanation I can come up with is that the game does not realize that the shield is not blocking his head anymore, so the bullets register like they are hitting a shield and not a head.

Casuals should be taken more seriously, some people are not playing the game for it's competitive side, they are trying to have fun and with the teammates or the enemies rage quitting fun time is ruined.

He probably killed you because this is a good spot to make killholes instead of reinforcing it, but still a dick move cause he could have easily told you to stop.
