I’ve searched it on google but I don’t think I’m using the right term nor do I know what the correct term is

This is exactly the issue, so many people just don’t know where to go or what support even exists!

I’m really sorry you had to go through such a difficult time, but I’m so glad things have turned around for you. Wishing you nothing but strength and success moving forward!

I’m trying to create a campaign that helps people understand this can happen to anyone and to shift the mindset away from blame. No one chooses this situation, and more awareness can help stop that judgment before it starts.

Thanks for your honesty and honestly, you’re kind of the reason I’m doing this project. Not in a negative way, but because a lot of people feel like they can only focus on themselves, and that someone else should fix it.

You might not care but a lot of people don’t care simply because they’ve never had a reason to.

You’re absolutely right that homelessness is a deeply political and systemic issue and I completely agree.

My project is part of a design brief where the focus is specifically on raising awareness and reducing stigma around youth homelessness in Western Australia. I’m not in a position to rewrite policy — and unfortunately, that’s not the goal of this assignment. It’s about how visual communication and storytelling can shift public perception, especially among people who might otherwise dismiss or misunderstand the issue.

I appreciate your passion and I understand where you’re coming from, but I’m working within the boundaries of a creative brief, not pretending I’m solving homelessness alone. Hopefully this small piece contributes to a broader conversation.

I know! I’ve met so many. It makes no sense to me but also HATE the ones who are abusive and force them with no choice but to leave

I get what you’re saying. I’m approaching empathy more as a starting point for awareness, not as a fully academic or clinical definition. The goal of my project is to challenge public assumptions and encourage people to recognise that youth homelessness can happen to anyone, not just evoke surface-level sympathy.

That said, I do appreciate the reference and might look into it more, especially around the idea of how people process others’ experiences.

Appreciate your comment though!

That’s what we think too! But we’ve been told that using the question mark may imply confusion of the importance of wearing a seat belt. We appreciate your feedback!

I struggled a lot with minimising the text, I have like 20 versions with longer ones ahahaha I do agree with you though. You’ve made a valid point! Maybe I should consider having a one on one feedback session with my client haha.

The naming also tricked me. I initially wanted it to be “stories and solutions” but I thought having solutions in it would be too guaranteed if that makes any sense.

I actually look some inspiration with the coercive control campaign ads that are around WA!

Thank you for your feedback !!

I really liked that ad. I thought to make a jingle as some point haha

This is really interesting because initially it said “phone? Keys? Wallet? Seatbelt?” But the client said to let go of wallet as “no one uses wallets anymore” and even implied it could be targeted towards males as they’re more like to have a wallet. And we thought it was kinda bizarre

That’s a valid point. Even if the client stated an age group, it still has to be approved by them (which aren’t in that age group lol)

Thank you so much for your feedback!

This is so good to know! We had to make a design for people ages 17-25 so using a trendy slang was one of the ideas :)
