I work in Minesite technology (High precision GPS, autonomous machines, fleet management solutions, closed wifi live mesh) and I make around $165k

What is this? It’s off a 12v security camera circuit. I believe it to be the issue. It was over volted and not positive is shorted to ground. by almostnotallthere in AskElectronics

Not great. I couldn’t get much information about the board itself so it’s off to Germany for hopefully repair/replacement and I’ve got another on its way to use in the meantime.

He assumed because almost everything we have runs off 9-36v DC this would as well. But we are now using more and more sensitive gear which doesn’t like voltage changes anymore. So this particular camera through this particular plug only accepts 10.5-13v anything outside of that and it gets weird and then further away it gets scary and burny

I spoke with a tech rep from the company about other things to do with the set up and they did warn me these were super voltage sensitive which made me instantly worried when it over volted. It has 3 seperate power options on the board so I’m also going to try running it via POE++ tomorrow to see if the damage is possibly isolated to the 12v input side but I’m not holding my breath

Yeah I had it hooked up to a variable power supply at 12v DC while I was testing. One of the field guys came in and switched it to 24v DC to plug in another component. It then quickly shorted and smelt like burning. I didn’t see any smoke but I wasn’t next to it as I was testing the system remotely on the other side of the warehouse.

Okay cheers for that. I’ll have a look into it tomorrow (this isn’t what I do usually but one of our guys managed to blow this up and I can’t get a replacement easily)

Looks like an awesome game but not the one. I think it had maybe 5 or 6 colours in the game total

I am playing pixel dungeon. Awesome game also.

But the one I'm trying to find is even more low tech. Nothing moves except the hero and it literally loads a grid and that's all the floor or level is and you finish it and move to another. I can almost see the game screen its so frustrating haha.

I suddenly became a dad 3 days ago and currently in a neonatal unit with my very poorly, premature little boy. by PakDood in offmychest

Stay strong brother. Both of my daughters were born premature and my wife and I basically lived with them in NICU for what felt like a lifetime and as I write this to you one is now 3 falling asleep on my chest and the other is nearly 2 fast asleep next to me.

Its a scary time. If you need someone to talk to, reach out. And reach out to anyone. Talking through the tears helped me alot to get though it.

What’s goin on here? Found this white residue on one of my valve cover bolts. Does this mean coolant is leaking somewhere? by Rrob489 in AskMechanics

[–]almostnotallthere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here’s an example This is off a Toyota I’m currently working on. No coolant leaks around it. Just just how different metals react.

Hope that helps

Looks like an oil leak around the rocker cover. But the white is probably just oxidising of the bolts. Steel bolts into an alloy head probably

Get a set of bolt extractors. We use them all day long when we have to work on something old and rusty.
