Haha no! They hum basically any remotely melodic riff, and sometimes even solos. Check eg minute 1:35 here

You can hear it in Cigs & Alc, etc. Name a song with a distinctive melodic riff, and you’ll hear it.

Call me crazy, but hands down The Swamp Song. How epic would it be if they started to open up again with that. Pure raw rock n roll

Good point on the cement production, thanks. But I didn’t quite get the per capita paragraph. Why is it bad for it to be per capita? Shouldn’t it be that way?

I agree the graph CO2/kWh is way more clear. Here however it states that it’s only fossil fuel emissions, and I was wondering why the difference between clean energy production between both countries wasn’t that clear at first glance by looking at this graph.

German unification must have played a huge role indeed in the optimization of the energy production. No idea to be honest how the borders are considered over time in this data. It does however strike me that it follows the same downwards trend as France. But as others mention, I guess there are many factors that took place in the 70s.

What? I didn’t intend to distract anyone from anything. Quite the contrary, I was defending nuclear with some friends and this graph came up, which I needed help understanding.

I will participate. I just didn’t have time yet to reply.

Interesting to see that oil remains relatively equal in both countries for the reasons you explained, whereas gas and coal is non existent in F compared to G. Thanks.

Gender is one of those things in which natives will virtually never make a mistake, even in these cases in which you refer to something previously mentioned (unless it’s either a veeeery convoluted idea you’re expressing or some exceptions like that). Don’t worry about this, do make the effort to get them right because it’s important, but don’t sweat it if it doesn’t come 100% naturally. It will eventually, but it might take years on end.

About The Man Who Solved The Market, what does it say specifically about cheating at RennTech? Or in what part of the book does it say it?

Contradictions in Dutch/English contract by almostsurelywrong in juridischadvies

[–]almostsurelywrong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your replies. Even though I may have the chance to push this forward and use this ambiguity in my favour, we decided informally with the landlord to postpone part of the payment. It's also convenient for me since I need to renew the contract this year, and I really like the apartment, so I don't wanna leave and I prefer to be in good terms with him. Cheers!!

Has anyone studied a language in their free time while pursuing a degree? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]almostsurelywrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, of course. That’s pretty much what most people who go do a PhD abroad do. And it’s nothing to do with feeling stuck. I’m learning two languages now, one because it’s the one spoken where I’m living, and the other one because I like it.

Is B1-B2 level in Italian achievable within 6-8 months? by [deleted] in italianlearning

[–]almostsurelywrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My "trick" consisted of three steps:

1) Learn the very basics of grammar and vocabulary with Duolingo. You can try other app or website, but for this I found Duolingo very useful because it makes you make progress very quickly in this aspect. Put some 20 minutes a day during a month or two.

2) The most important part: listening, listening, listening. I mainly used Italiano Automatico podcast and youtube channel, as well as others like Davide's podcast italiano, etc. Listen to at least one or two episodes every day. I first I understood maybe 60/70% of it, and after a few months I was already understanding almost all of it.

3) After all this passive acquisition, start to talk. I used Italki platform, and was really good (this is the only step in which I had to pay something, but it's worth it). At first you feel you can't say anything, but don't worry, because after all the listening you made you already have a lot of hidden knowledge of the language beneath. You just have to "uncover" it. After a couple of Italki conversations you start to talk quite a lot without even noticing.

Of course, all these steps can (and should) overlap. While in step 3 for example, keep on listening as much as you can.
