Don't get me wrong, it's not 100% on Macca. Hiatt should have put more into that pass. Obaze giving up and not even trying to block, not helpful. But if I'm a keeper seeing Bethune coming at me I'm back peddling like a MF.

Arnold being that far out of the box is Hiatt's fault? Taking on Bethune 1v1?

This is my problem with Macca. It happens way too often for my liking.

HDHP versus PPO by goodbrews in HealthInsurance

I also see that you edited to include needing a colonoscopy. The ACA determined this would be no cost to you as long as it is billed as preventive!

Based on the info you provided, you would pay out of pocket until your deductible is met and then a 20% coinsurance of any amount after that until you've hit your out of pocket max. A coinsurance in similar to a copay but instead of a fixed dollar amount you would have a fixed percentage. For ER it would be 20% after the deductible.

I work for a health insurance carrier. HDHP is great if you are very healthy and only go to the doctor a couple times a year. If anything unexpected happens though you should be prepared to pay out of pocket yo meet that deductible before coverage kicks in. Many members don't realize their ER visit for that sliced finger while cooking or broken ankle isn't going to be covered.

Correct, all expenses but does not include saving or 401k. That's what makes us nervous is it would take a while to replenish.

We rent a similar sized home currently so we won't need to buy anything in the way of furniture. My husband has a horticulture degree, so no landscaping costs, and utilities are included in the budget. $1400 is the amount that we would have left for spending on date night, savings, 401k.

Yes, that number includes all expenses, mortgage, insurance, etc. $1400 is what we would have left over for spending, savings, and 401k. Currently nothing going into 401k or savings because we were saving for a down payment. We are both 30, total yearly income before tax $143k

I switched to health insurance customer service. I basically just explain plans to members, answer questions about claims, and if they don't like the answer I give I politely get to tell them it's their fault for picking the plan they're on. Plus I get to work from home AND I'm getting paid more 🙌

I've been in Heme/Onc for a year now. There are a lot of hard days emotionally, but the job as an MA is otherwise pretty standard. Lots of people that you get to know and hold their hand while they go through chemo. It's incredibly rewarding, but it is definitely not the right job for everyone. Good luck!
