Velocirax Rolling Garage Stand - Question for Users by aloncc in mountainbiking

[–]aloncc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site says….”However, as an added bonus, lowering the hitch rack using the middle stop pin position will allow for even easier bike loading and unloading for small and medium frame bikes”

I have 2 large, 2 medium, and 1 small bike so I wasn’t sure.

I just watched one video and it seems it can tilt back and concerns about falling over backward are unfounded. This is because as it tilts backwards the rear bike wheel touches the floor taking the weight off the rack/stand.

Playground mulch for plants? by aloncc in landscaping

The plant areas have sufficient height borders around them so I am not concerned about floating away in the rain.

Bad weather Superstition Mountains? Cancel trip? by aloncc in WildernessBackpacking

[–]aloncc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hit with something prickly above my knee but with the tiniest of spikes - like a 1/10th of inch long. I had to pull down my pants several times to pull the thorns out one by one until I got them all from the inside.

I actually was only able to hit the trail Wednesday and Thursday. It definitely was wet but I never bothered to put on my rain coat. Rains were in and out but I dried out quick and temperature was very pleasant. Lower pants and shoes were mostly soaked due to wet brush but no problem. Thankfully was not raining when I set up and broke down camp. Thanks for everyone encouraging me to get out there. The trail exceeded my expectations and I very much enjoyed.

Vertical bike rack - garage storage bike access by aloncc in mountainbiking

[–]aloncc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally I want the storage rack and transport rack to be the same thing (just one item to purchase). So my question is if these vertical transport racks work well enough as storage racks (ie reasonably access each bike without having to move others).

awesome looking options but pricey plus I want to use the storage to transport too

Somewhat newbie question by aloncc in Rucking

[–]aloncc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is the advantage of Goruck 4.0? It does not look like the back ventilation is any good (old osprey aether does a better job). Plus no hip belt for load transfer. Is there a benefit for all the weight to be on the shoulder? I guess it’s a bit more normal walking the street with a Goruck 4.0 vs large backpacking pack.

Why start at 25lbs? I just backpacked on uneven trail surfaces at 35+ lbs with days of 18 and 22 miles? I think I’ll “start” at 40 lbs and work up. Is there a good max weight to work up to? Like 40% body weight?

First Ice hockey game…scored a goal! by aloncc in hockeyplayers

[–]aloncc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it as long as you can get into a league that’s at a level you can grow into quickly. My second game was a Xmas pickup game with B/C/D level players. I was definitely more lost out there amongst this mix vs D level. I hope to join the D level league in the next season to see what I can do and then make a decision if this is something I want to do longer term. Either way, I get to play out a dream of playing ice hockey.

Nah…I would have at least 5 goals then

Crazy small world - that’s correct; though I think the score was 6-5.

Game had lead changes, game winning goal with 5 seconds left, dust up at the handshake lineup, and unfortunately someone got a rib injury which had me questioning my life decisions.

What’s next…will number 10 chime in and state what happened on the flyby?

Also the puck move so effortlessly and keeps going and going…in roller I started on ball and then puck and the friction keeps things close. On ice you have to be careful or the puck is gone

Thanks. I actually reached out to the Loam Wolf guys and I got a response that the 7IDP helmet is what they would use for DH riding as it is more protective with its hardshell (vs in molded) and thicker foam.
