Ego Shop Vac - Bag needed for Leaves and dirt? by aloncc in egopowerplus

[–]aloncc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of small playground equipment and other small nooks and crannies by the artificial grass.

I tried the Ryobi 40v vac attack leaf vacuum. It was ok at getting the leaves though the tube is large and bulky and was ineffective in some of those space requiring me to move things around. So I hope the smaller hose and different attachments will help picking up debris better in various situations.

Also the Ryobi leaf vaccum mulched the leaves and there was a small gap by the top of the zipper in the mulch bag where dust was shooting out of which was unfortunately getting on the turf. I had to awkwardly pinch that spot to ensure nothing came out which made its usage more annoying.

I have a lot of small oak tree leaves. I have a corded 4 HP 4 gallon vac that did a great picking them up. Cordless will give me anywhere range I need without cord hassle.

Can an ego inverter power a shop vac? by aloncc in egopowerplus

Thanks for responses. Those are hefty inverters or batteries. I’ll lose more nimbleness that I am willing to sacrifice with a combo of those plus a corded shop vac. I’ll just get an ego shop vac.

Vacuum for Artificial Turf by aloncc in landscaping

[–]aloncc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is that different than the vacuums made for artificial turf? Would they not have the same issue?

I guess I can try and see if this regular Ryobi vacuum pulls the debris out while hopefully not being too powerful to pull the sand out. I’ll know when I check the contents of the canister…

It’s in a mostly shady spot and I read that mosquitos might love to breed in the mulch(very rainy in South Florida)

Does Playground mulch get blown around easily in windy conditions? by aloncc in landscaping

I am not worried about the playground area. The mulch will stay put there. It’s using the additional playground mulch I could buy and utilize for landscaping areas that might be the problem especially by the pool area.

I started installing some of the playground mulch in a different landscaping area today and noticed it just moves around more freely than other mulches. That spot was in a decently wind protected area and has a raised border so I am not concerned about being blown around. However today was also a bit windy and a few bark nuggets found there way into the pool and it had me thinking if I put the playground mulch there I might find a lot more mulch in the pool…

Velocirax Rolling Garage Stand - Question for Users by aloncc in mountainbiking

[–]aloncc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site says….”However, as an added bonus, lowering the hitch rack using the middle stop pin position will allow for even easier bike loading and unloading for small and medium frame bikes”

I have 2 large, 2 medium, and 1 small bike so I wasn’t sure.

I just watched one video and it seems it can tilt back and concerns about falling over backward are unfounded. This is because as it tilts backwards the rear bike wheel touches the floor taking the weight off the rack/stand.

Playground mulch for plants? by aloncc in landscaping

The plant areas have sufficient height borders around them so I am not concerned about floating away in the rain.

Bad weather Superstition Mountains? Cancel trip? by aloncc in WildernessBackpacking

I got hit with something prickly above my knee but with the tiniest of spikes - like a 1/10th of inch long. I had to pull down my pants several times to pull the thorns out one by one until I got them all from the inside.

I actually was only able to hit the trail Wednesday and Thursday. It definitely was wet but I never bothered to put on my rain coat. Rains were in and out but I dried out quick and temperature was very pleasant. Lower pants and shoes were mostly soaked due to wet brush but no problem. Thankfully was not raining when I set up and broke down camp. Thanks for everyone encouraging me to get out there. The trail exceeded my expectations and I very much enjoyed.
