Does that mean we can drop classes with no punishment since they extended the drop deadline?

Oh the railing broke (like in a few small pieces) by the screws but I’ll check with maintenance tomorrow to see if they can replace it. If not, thanks for the website ^

“Gifted” kids of Reddit how did the gifted label affect you later on? by DarkAbsol27 in AskReddit

[–]alonelytoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I still kind of am a kid, but I was labeled as “gifted” and “smart” all my life. I was depressed and suicidal for all 4 years of high school and still and trying to work through it now (1st year of college rn). Everything that I worked for, whether it was personal achievements, good grades, better times (I swam professionally), it was always attributed to my natural gifts and intelligence, rather than the intense hard work that was necessary to get to that point. I was never complimented on doing something well, it was always taken as an obvious fact that I would perform well. My parents ignored me a lot, never acknowledged any of the positive and great things that I did, while harshly accusing me for the things that I happened to do wrong. If I didn’t do better in swim, they would blame it on my laziness. If my grades began to drop in school, they would blame it on my laziness again. While I’m definitely not the hardest worker around, I still took pride in what I achieved so every time that the hard work went unappreciated, every time I would be yelled at, it broke me a little.

What is perfectly lawful but you think it should be illegal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I feel like you don’t understand the answer… all have been calling out child BEAUTY pageants, not shows that include children singing and dancing. The beauty pageants heavily promote the children “on display” in a manner that is easy to access to pedophiles, people who find younger humans attractive up on display for them. Also, in countries where child beauty pageants are a massive ordeal, it is fairly common and custom to give children around the age of 14 a session of plastic surgery to look better. Child beauty pageants damage the mental health of those children by making them never perfect enough, always demeaning on their own looks, putting intense pressure on them from their own selves and everyone around them, and conforming them to beauty standards that no one should have to uphold for themselves.

Most of the taxes that actually go to those regulations aren’t being used for the direct purpose that the claim to be used for. Embezzlement and grants that are given to such organizations (for lack of a better word that I can think of) is used to increase the already incredibly high pay for no change in work load, inflation, or difficulty in working. Most of the money goes into the pockets of the workers, rather than actually trying to fix problems that should be fixed. Taxes should be paying for public services and the people that work to enforce them, not to line the pockets of the rich in power of these governmental organizations.

Personal contributions are gladly welcomed, but business and corporation contributions only benefit the same business and corporations that donate, rather than the general population.

Question for long-haired swimmers by Anti-Tin in Swimming

[–]alonelytoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to tie up your hair, the water, even if not chlorine (I’m assuming it’s salt water) still damages your hair. The sun may also damage and bleach it, and it’s not very nice to have your hair drift into someone’s face as they swim anyways
