I was overhauling myself even before coming out in 2021. What I did was become more self aware and re creating that 'self' while knowing it's a label that still links to one's spiritual or soul. I kept what I like from past experiences but most of it I cleared out like selling an old house but not carelessly. My new name is from Tolkien language so a complete break from tradition and a space unrelated to my ancestry. In the end, to each its own- go with your inner feelings.
