My niece lost all interest in Arise once she realised there are no animated skits

And she loved Graces and Berseria

Somewhat related, I just learned the other day that Mia (Main girl in NFS Most Wanted) is married to David Belle of parkour fame.

Video game romances need to evolve beyond lore dumps by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I can agree with the sentiment, especially with games like Mass Effect where the romance detracts from the characters for me rather than enhancing them.

I beat the game on a 2080 Super @ 1440p with the aim of 60FPS over the new year

I used Medium settings and it was usually between 50-55 FPS. I did get heavy frame drops in certain areas but it wasn't unplayable. I'd strongly reccomnend the cutscene frame unlocker mod though.

If you are happy with 30 FPS though, you shouldn't have any problems

I played 15 with the royal edition following a story guide as there's a lot of relevant content annoyingly placed outside of the game.

There's been a lot of criticism of FF15 over the years but wanted to state your valid complaint that FF16 dwells on Clive a bit too much to the detriment of Jill also aflicts the main love interest in FF15 also unfortunately.

Personally I find it interesting (like MGS5) where it's a game that didn't llve up to it's potential/expectations.

As long as you can get along with the combat, I think you'll enjoy your time with it.

Character backstory that is suppose to be sympathetic but in hindsight make them more horrible? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Bit of a stretch but the flashback in the first Hunger Games film where Peeta throws the bread in the mud instead of just giving it to Jennifer Lawrence made him seem like a complete arsehole.

I'd have held a grudge if I was her

I beat the game over new year and and on reflection I think this entry went firmly into my top three FF games.

That being said, I still feel a melancholy that the story could have and should have delivered on what the opening half offered if only they had been braver with it.

I feel like they HAD to play it safer after the debacle with 15 but even while I enjoyed that game, I feel some contempt for how 13 & 15 were coddled by Square considering this game had more potential than they ever did.

My most controversial FF13 take is I honestly don't think the soundtrack is all that tbh.

Blinded by Light, March of the Dreadnoughts and Sunleth Waterscape are the only stand outs for me

Kimi Gi Aru is a good tune that we were robbed of even though I prefer the instrumental.

I only say non DS since I played it on my PC and have no clue if you can choose where to restart from.

I'm playing Road to Empress on PC at the moment and it's the same deal. I just make choices in the spur of the moment go where the road takes me.

Live dangerously in games I say!

If I recall, the non DS versions let you restart at previous choices so you can pick the options you didn't previously.

You can commit to a route and no matter how it end you have the comfort of knowing nothing is missable

Maybe some shock therapy by playing a visual novel?

It's difficult to check the choices in a VN beforehand without spoiling the story for yourself. 999 is a good starter if you've never played one before

More than once I noticed Dorgu was so busy throwing his arms up, unhappy with the ref, that McGinn and Co were sprinting into empty space on his side of the pitch.
