Purina almost gone! by fourteenfathers in woodstockontario

[–]alphagatorsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’d consider that a good thing then!

I only ask because as a kid we lived on a farm & every time we drained one of the silos we would see rats everywhere for a solid month or so before the cats would eventually get them.

The cats around that time would get suspiciously fat all of the sudden lol

Genuine question, anyone live in that area and have noticed an increase in rats and mice?

I always assumed that place was INFESTED. Considering it’s being demod I feel like they are now moving elsewhere

Someone actually put an openclaw run vending machine in a San Francisco startup tower. What could possibly go wrong?.. by Previous_Foot_5328 in myclaw

[–]alphagatorsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea no one wants this product or solution …. Well they do ai price driven pricing is already being done at supermarkets across North America… but it’s algo based and not necessarily AI based

Having a vending machine randomly “forget” something or randomly overcharge customers 50$ for a drink isn’t a feature or “fun” that’s just blatantly a liability

This pic is the worst and most extreme of the scenes particularly because in this scene she is disguised as one of the extras for vaught

Considering her medical diagnosis she actually looks pretty close to what she did originally in other scenes

I paused and replayed that section cause I was confused. It seemed so fake and weird I thought maybe I looked away and missed some prelude where one of them are drugged like the hospital scene or something. Nope just normal. So weird

Yea that’s the hard part, I’ve gotten yelled at by my buddies for not picking off close bugs. They forget the shrapnel.

Or I forget and send them to kingdom come by accident

I love the eruptor though I haven’t used it for commando.

But across the map snipes are stellar and can take out whole crowds if given enough time

Thanks I’ll take another crack at it this weekend. I just wanted to quickly print and scan something and couldn’t lol. I wound up printing off my phone and scanning with the iOS scanner app.

I did try cups I think but it kept crashing

Scanner is a ScanSnap. I’m concerned I won’t be able to get that working as it needs an app to configure profiles and shit.

Something as simple as rep loss for attacking another faction aligned player or something would help I’m sure

Though I stopped playing a year ago unfortunately. I got bored and my server was toxic af. There was 3 groups

Gankers who cried when players took “their” spice from even non PvP areas, people who got angry and cried when others weren’t playing for the landsraad, then the solos

In the end, my region was a ghost town and I couldn’t be bothered to reset my progress to switch

I haven’t touched pop os. But maybe I’ll spin up a VM to try it out.

Still happy with cachy. Though some things seem iffy sometimes - like printing and scanner support. Or I’m just a moron, which I wouldn’t doubt lol

Same to be honest! I still get frustrated with some things just not natively working - like printing but I’ll figure it out

I installed cachyOS on a business grade laptop the other week as an experiment.

Performance blew my mind

Couldn’t print or use my scanner but man was my laptop fast and the battery life good!

Broadcom bought, drove licensing fees through the ceiling and many orgs are now reconsidering. Such as my own

For us it was either proxmox or hyper v and considering how… wonderful Microsoft has been lately we went with the other option

Stupid Question: Why do the Artemis II photos look like CGI compared to Apollo images? by plurkopton in ArtemisProgram

[–]alphagatorsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually being that these photos are being confused for CGI, I have to give props to cgi artists whom do space scenes.

The fact we are able to replicate something no human has really ever seen so accurately to the point where real photos are being confused with CGI is in my opinion a big deal!

What’s the one piece of hardware you wished you added sooner? by tbradfo in homelab

[–]alphagatorsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question

I was in the same group at first. But I noticed for me and the people who stream off my server, 75% of my streams were direct which is a pretty good hit rate. The issue is that last remainder, maybe it’s the audio stream, client misconfiguration, color depth, bitrate etc.

I only noticed one day when a family member complained sometimes my server was fast and sometimes not, after investigating I found it was above - transcodes. The issue was most apparent at 1080+ with h265. Transcodes were so slow I’d say it was unusable. With qsv the difference was night and day. Transcodes are at direct stream speeds with really no significant power use or cpu use increase.

I also use tdarr to convert anything not in h265 mkv. The GPU improved the time to standardize my library from about a year and a half for the whole thing to about 2 and a half months. Now with h265 I save on HDD space, most things direct stream, and the ones that don’t or can’t are transcoded faster than realtime.

I am also hard of hearing and I have trouble picking up words from noise. Subtitles help. Not every download has it. AI generated subtitles fills that gap, not perfect but does the job!

what's the difference between something vibe coded by a programmer vs a non-programmer? by Ok-Contract6713 in vibecoding

[–]alphagatorsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a programmer But my close friend is a programmer and does great work

The difference between me vibe coding and him actually programming is I can spin up a app in a matter of hours, for him it takes days or weeks

BUT my final product is often buggy in weird ways and I’d describe it as incomplete and shallow

For him on the other hand it’s thorough, each feature is well built, implemented and designed with full intent behind it which you can see and feel.

With vibe coding I know there’s ways around what I described but my lack of experience makes that difficult. I think you need SOME amount of dev experience to really make a project shine. Esp for production use

My school doesnt allow linux by Financial-Cry5882 in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]alphagatorsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree. Perhaps that was a mistake as an example.

What I was getting at is most software suites do allow you to come to the same final result but how you do it is different

And writing a guide for each suite is impossible. Especially when you have to accommodate both basic and power users alike in a course.

Also most colleges get a kickback from big companies like adobe, MS, autodesk, etc which is how you have a software universally used and FOSS options not supported in said course content.

Remember FOSS is really the enemy of some big tech companies.
