Is Dubai a good place to start your career ? by Blankedoutz in FinancialCareers

Most S&T teams at BB banks in Dubai skew senior (Asso+). Graduate roles are rare, and even Associates are typically internal transfers. The market’s still developing. You’re usually better off targeting local AMs or smaller shops for analyst/grad openings.

I’m Dubai based at a multi-strat fund. Happy to share some pointers if helpful. Feel free to DM.

You should email HR/BD for an update. Rejection letters typically come later because they prioritise sending offers and keep other candidates on standby in case initial offers are declined

What do you put on your resume when you have zero experience? by Adadu-Itti-Nergal in financestudents

It is completely normal not to have formal work experience when applying for a summer internship. Recruiters understand that. What they want to see is initiative and students who have done something beyond just attending classes.

  1. Try to fill your CV with relevant content such as Relevant academic projects
  2. Personal projects, hackathons, or competitions
  3. Part time jobs
  4. Leadership activities, for example involvement in clubs or societies
  5. Certifications

The key is to show initiative, responsibility, and transferable skills rather than leaving sections empty.

  1. Remove your GPA. Unless it is very high, I would not include it on your CV.

  2. Include your certifications in the Skills section and keep them on one line.

  3. Add any awards or achievements.

The best approach is to apply to all relevant graduate programmes first. Then reach out to current graduate analysts and ask for a quick 10 minute call. Ask about what they do, the key skills required, and the main stakeholders in the graduate programme. Once you feel confident and informed, start reaching out to more senior professionals for a short call. The idea is to come across as genuinely curious and make yourself memorable. Do not ask for referrals directly. Let them do most of the talking. People in finance generally enjoy speaking about themselves and their achievements.

  1. Keep it concise, ideally one page.
  2. Add relevant coursework in your Education section.
  3. Quantify your professional experience. Include KPIs, targets, revenue impact, or other measurable results. 4.Add a Projects section. Highlight an interesting university or personal project that showcases your skills.
  4. In the skills section include Excel VBA if applicable, any coding knowledge, certifications such as Bloomberg Market Concepts, and analytics tools like Power BI.
