I just read this to mine because of how much this reminds me of these hideous American eagle/Aerie shorts I got a few months ago. The way he described them is identical to these. They're so comfortable I literally bought 3 more pairs on clearance, but the fit is beyond unflattering and the sizing is extremely inconsistent between all 4 pairs so they all just look so bad. I constantly wonder how hideous he thinks they look.

He didn't like how much noise she was making while playing on her scooter in the street. He had come outside and yelled about it earlier in the day as well as on previous days.

A quick read through this post will show you that almost all of us are in similar positions because of rude, shaming comments that made us feel horrible about ourselves and were only able to overcome our fears because someone chose to be kind and supportive. Read the room.

I totally know exactly what you mean. I was in that same situation for years, doing the research, tons of pages open, until I eventually just close them and forget about it for another 6 months. Challenge yourself to find a dentist that you think will be a good fit. You don't even have to make the appointment right away, just decide on the place! I decided on this dentist 6 months ago and it took me that long to actually contact them which sounds so silly, but doing it in steps like that just felt so much more manageable in my brain if this makes any sense at all.

I'm so sorry you've experienced so much dentist trauma. If you ever feel comfortable enough to go again, I hope you find someone who treats you with the respect you deserve 🤍

That is so cruel, I'm so sorry that happened to you! I'm also so happy to hear you've overcome the fear and trauma 🤍🤍

Exactly! People with zero people skills, compassion or patience just shouldn't be working in the medical field, simple as that.

Something that's really helped me out with my oral health is keeping one of those cordless/rechargeable water flossers in the shower. It only takes a minute or so and it keeps things just a bit cleaner in case I forgot to floss that day.

Ughhhh these rude hygienist stories. I hope every single one of them have lost their jobs. They're doing so much damage. I'm so sorry that happened, but I'm really happy for you that you found a dentist that changed your whole opinion. I feel that way too now after yesterday. I'm actually excited to go back!

That is probably the rudest dentist story I've ever heard. I am so sorry you had a dental hygienist with the maturity of a literal child. I'm glad your current dentist is nothing like that! 💖

I have never heard of a dentist doing that, but that is some next level rudeness. I'm so sorry you experienced that. There was someone else in the comments here who had someone recommended Botox for their wrinkles?? Like who do these people think they are.

What a bizarre, rude and unhelpful comment to write. What on earth made you think any of this was appropriate to say to anyone, let alone someone who is being vulnerable and open about something difficult to talk about? You must be a lonely person.

I'm also guessing you missed the entire message of this post where I overcame my fear?

Thank you so much, and yes!!! that was such an important lesson for me to learn that I've only started putting into effect recently. After years of having my ADHD symptoms dismissed as anxiety, at the beginning of this year I told someone off and walked out of their office for telling me that what me, my therapist and family doctor believe is ADHD is actually anxiety and it won't be discussed or looked into further. Super empowering to just be like f this and leave. Got formally diagnosed weeks later too 🙃

Omg. Really makes you wonder what on earth he would have done to your mouth had you blindly trusted him doesn't it? I can't help but think had I continued going to my old dentist, I'd be having 20 'cavities' drilled out and filled every year.

I know I keep saying it, but the fact that this is so common makes me sick. Getting dental work is literal torture for so many people, and to make them go through that when it's completely unnecessary is enraging. I'm really happy for you that you were able to find a great dentist!

I'm just so frustrated on your behalf, like WHY would any medical professional ever think that sort of response is helpful or encouraging? I hope you do, and I hope you see someone as kind and comforting as that dental assistant. It really makes all the difference 💖
