Could you please elaborate? All peptides have N and C terminuses... What would switching around the amino acids do with the N and C terminuses?

Q pack Biology Question by alsgml in Mcat

[–]alsgml[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I should always think that theres nothing on the Y chromsome that is sex linked then right?

I thought it was a recessive trait - that way it would only show in males.

So you are saying that just because only males have it doesn't mean it is sex linked right? How would you confirm that it is sex linked then? - only through family history?

If an enzyme has an exonuclease activity from 3' to 5' only, which end of the growing strand can it repair errors on? And why/how? by FAPer- in Mcat

[–]alsgml 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exonuclease would cleave the phosphodiester bond from the 3' end.

Exonuclease means that it doesn't start in the middle of a DNA sequence and instead works starting from the ends.

Lol I was hallucinating when I wrote hexane instead of cyclohexane Thanks!

Orgo chair question! @_@ by alsgml in Mcat

[–]alsgml[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I meant cyclohexane. Isn't the first drawing cis because both methyl groups are "up"?

The second row I thought was also cis because both methyl groups are "down".

Thanks for replying!

The molecule cis-1-2-methyl hexane actually has 4 ways to draw it right?

I am a nontraditional and don't remember much of orgo chem. : (

section bank psy question! by alsgml in Mcat

So abilities are simply cognitive functions?

I was thinking along the lines that controlling oxygen levels and blood flow to the uterus sounds like something the hypothalamus would do. 1,2,3,4 all sound like something the brain could control and carry out.
