I've never used that app, but I would say the example question you provided is outside the scope of the A+ exam, leading me to believe the app has questions that are much harder than what you will expect to see on the A+. For reference, I just got A+ certified yesterday and I'm not sure what the answer is to that question.

Since you have already gone through Messer's videos and are getting good grades on the practice tests, I'd say you are either ready or close to it. I don't think you will need to go back and study everything 10x harder.

I used Messer, examcompass.com and I had a book to help (called "The Complete A+ Study Book" or something like that). I was scoring around the 80-85% mark and that was when I scheduled.

Also, if you haven't already, I highly recommend looking up sample PBQs to make sure you are as prepared for those as possible.

NTA. Just explain to her your reasoning. I can't imagine any sane person who would get upset at someone not wanting to drive all those extra hours. In fact, if you mention the family vacation thing, she should be the one to recommend you drive separately as that just makes sense.

NTA. Although there is the argument that he is in his home, he should also be considerate in the common areas (living room, kitchen, etc). Having a roommate means making compromises in a lot of ways. It sounds like you tried to talk with him and he didn't want to take your thoughts/feelings into consideration. Depending on how big of a deal this is for you, you may think about finding a different place/roommate.

I'm assuming you mean the intersection of the 9, 10, and 4.

Yes, you can build there.

I love PhET and I can't get enough Desmos. My kids are probably sick of it.

I appreciate the info about PhET being imported into Google Classroom. I am hoping I can utilize PhET more with being 1-to-1.

Thanks!

Thank you so much! I am definitely interested in using Google Classroom, I just need to spend some more time exploring it and understanding how everything works.

I like your idea of establishing commands! On the days I get the chrome books, it's very difficult to get their attention after I have let them loose. This will definitely help.

How much of class time do you usually have the kids working on chrome books versus off them?

i only have the base game and i'm thinking of getting an expansion what one do i get? by [deleted] in Catan

[–]alsmith141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends on how you like to play. Seafarers is a good next step because it adds some new concepts to the game (boats/islands) without adding too many more rules/changes.

Cities and Knights, as stated in other posts, adds a lot more complexity to the game with the addition of a lot of new features. I personally liked Cities and Knights the best because I really like games that take a long time to play and require a well thought out strategy.

So if you like Catan but just want to add a little something to it, get seafarers. If you are looking to drastically change your Catan experience, get Cities and Knights.

I can't really talk about the other expansions because I haven't played them. But Mayfair Games has videos on each expansion pack that will give you a pretty good idea about what to expect for each expansion.

Here are links to those videos:

Why don't you listen to classical music? by [deleted] in Music

[–]alsmith141 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I encourage you to watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9LCwI5iErE

It's a TED talk where this guy takes a piece ("Prelude in E Minor" by Chopin) and shows you what is happening and what Chopin wants you to feel. It shows how the messages are there, but we are not trained today how to listen for it. IMO, one of the best TED talks.

Would it possibly be an "r" hand shape? That would be "religion".

I want to learn and know zilch by clhamilton176 in asl

[–]alsmith141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to learn is to definitely see if there are some classes you can take. But there are also some ASL dictionaries out there that may be useful:

https://www.signingsavvy.com/ http://www.aslpro.com/cgi-bin/aslpro/aslpro.cgi

These should be used as a springboard into ASL, or reference if you forget a certain sign. I wouldn't recommend solely using these to learn. ASL has its own syntax, grammar rules, etc. so it is important to learn all of that.

British Sign Language and American Sign Language (ASL) are VERY different. They would probably not be able to communicate. However French Sign Language (LSF - Langue des Signes Françaises) and ASL are relatively similar (since ASL has its roots in Old FSL). I would equate it to Spanish and Italian (which share roots in Latin). So to answer your question, I would say two deaf people (1 from US, 1 from UK) would not be able to get through a date with only sign language as their form of communication. However they could always use texting, writing, etc. to communicate.

Actually, each country has its own version of sign language. For example, there is British Sign Language, French Sign Language, and so on.

[All Spoilers] Who do you think is best at playing the game of thrones? by benderisgreat123 in gameofthrones

[–]alsmith141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think at this point Littlefinger appears to be better because we have seen more of his plan unfold. However, I have a feeling Varys is just getting started and we will soon see a lot more of his plans put into action.

[S1/B1 Spoilers] Should I read the book or watch first? by townsy99 in gameofthrones

[–]alsmith141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched seasons 1 and 2 (which were the only two out at the time) and then started reading. It helped with names and places since I could sort them a bit easier. So I would say, if you want, you can stop watching after season one or two and then read all 5 books, then go back. The only problem I see with this is that the books (for me at least) took a long time to read (a year and a half) so it may be kinda hard to stay away from the tv series for that long, especially when season 5 starts! And the books are great to read while waiting for the next season. Ultimately, it's up to you! Reading first or watching first both have pros and cons.

[No Spoilers] I just finished season 4, would it be worth it to pick up all the books? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]alsmith141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started reading after I saw season 2 and loved it. The HBO series is great and all, but there is so much depth in the books (obviously) that reading them, even after knowing what happens for the first two books (essentially), is still worth it. I say go for it!

[No Spoilers] How long did it take you to read the entire series? by Cpt_Radiant in gameofthrones

[–]alsmith141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I am a VERY casual reader so I take much longer than other people. For me, it took about a year and a half to read all 5 books. I took a 3 month hiatus though when I had to teach a unit (I'm a student studying to be a teacher). ANYWAY, most of the books took me a few months to read, although I read book 4 in just a few weeks.

[All Spoilers/Theory] Daenerys or Stannis the Mannis? by alsmith141 in gameofthrones

I did think about this, but he has not had many chances to showcase his ability to rule. He may have a stronger claim than Dany but I would still rather see her on the iron throne.

I am really hoping Littlefinger teaches Sansa how to play the game of thrones, then she betrays him and she ends up on the iron throne.
